Cruz to CNN: Global warming not supported by data
CNN ^ | February 20th, 2014 | CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash and CNN Senior Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh

Beaumont, TX (CNN) – Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, questions whether global warming is real, arguing that the "data are not supporting what the advocates are arguing."

"The last 15 years, there has been no recorded warming. Contrary to all the theories that – that they are expounding, there should have been warming over the last 15 years. It hasn't happened," said Cruz.

Follow @politicalticker

Cruz spoke to CNN in an exclusive interview following an event here to promote his new energy plan, which he says he will formally introduce in the Senate next week.

When pressed about the fact that the arctic is melting, and whether that helps prove climate change is real, Cruz dismissed it.

"Other parts are going up. It is not - you know, you always have to be worried about something that is considered a so-called scientific theory that fits every scenario. Climate change, as they have defined it, can never be disproved, because whether it gets hotter or whether it gets colder, whatever happens, they'll say, well, it's changing, so it proves our theory," argued Cruz.

"I am always troubled by a theory that fits every perfect situation. You know, back in the '70s - I remember the '70s, we were told there was global cooling. And everyone was told global cooling was a really big problem. And then that faded. And then we were told by Al Gore and others there was global warming and that was going to be a big problem. And then it morphed. It wasn't global warming anymore, it became climate change. And the problem with climate change is there's never been a day in the history of the world in which the climate is not changing," said Cruz.

Wrong message, tell the American People the truth.
Global Warming was invented as a way of moving $$$$ from prosperous countries to 3rd world without voter approval.
Invented by 3rd world countries in the UN.

If it wasn't for Global Warming, there'd be no Great Lakes, no Niagara Falls, no Yosemite National Park, no GLACIER National Park.

All these beautiful landscapes were carved out by advancing and retreating glaciers.

Without Global Warming, there'd be no England, Ireland, Scotland, Scandanavia. Ten thousand years ago, all these countries were under a thousand feet of ice.

As of this writing, there is no Scientifically proven, laboratory tested, peer-reviewed, published article on any known Cause and Effect between the amount of CO2 and change in air temperature.

In the field, for example, the Global ppm of CO2 has increased in the last 17 years, but the Global air temperature has not changed, or has gotten colder depending on the site being measured.

Last year the Arctic Ocean Ice Cap grew in area and thickness with Global CO2 at its highest level, providing yet another addition to the very long list of field test failures to the proponents of the pop-culture, junk science speculation called “Global Warming.”

CO2 is essential for plants to obtain Carbon, and thus CO2 is an environmentally friendly Green House Gas right along with the most abundant Green House Gas, Water Vapor.

BTW, Water Vapor abundance in the atmosphere is 25,000 ppmillion, and CO2 is 400 ppmillion, +/-, adjusted for volcanic and seasonal variation.

Fear-mongering, Spendaholic Politicians can fool some of the real Scientists some of the time, but they have convincingly proven that they can fool all of the “junk scientists” all of the time.

Since abundant CO2 is essential for Green Plants to grow by the process of Photosynthesis, we FReepers are duty bound to break down the Spendaholic Politician’s Barrycades that un-Scientifically discourage the increased generation of life-giving CO2.

Let us as FReepers storm the Anti-Green Energy, “Phony CO2 Barrycades” of the Spendaholic Politicians with the following chants and street signs:

“Support Green House Gas Increases:
CO2 means more plant food for you;
Corn and CO2 go together like Wealth and Work;
Carbon is a Plant’s Best Friend;
If you like to hug trees, then produce more CO2;
Make more CO2, not more Taxes;
Bring back our life-giving Coal fired plants:
Support the Green Energy Revolution!”

You’re not kidding! I am so used to some fool getting interviewed and backing out of these questions with some mush. He tells it like it is, and tactfully. He puts the media on the defense and that is the only way we can win.

The Finger Lakes region in New York had ice sheets TWO MILES thick! The latest glacial episode was most extensive around 21,000 years ago, when glaciers covered almost the entire state. Around 19,000 years ago, the climate warmed, and the glacier began to retreat, disappearing entirely from New York for the last time around 11,000 years ago.

That is an incomprehensible amount of ice. Imagine living at an altitude of 10,000 feet, the elevation of Leadville, CO, in the middle of NYS!

One thing never explained is source of the all the heat needed to melt that enormous amount of ice. WHY did the climate warm up 19,000 years ago?

You tell’em TED! I hope he gets this message out because there are still too many idiots out there who think we are doomed because of climate change.

I am always reminded of a conversation with a friend of mine. She was raised in Holland and she is 70+. When she was a child she ice skated on the canals in winter now her grandchildren in Holland can't do that. Got to be global warming! Oh yeah, she reads the NYT! Hopeless.

FWIW, the 1977 Time Magazine cover is a fraud. It's a rip off of the April 9, 2007 cover about warming.

Excerpts from Newsweek article entitled “The Cooling World” (with chart and graph)

April 28, 1978 - Peter Gwynne with bureau reports

“There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production...”

“The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down. Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the cooling trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions.”

“...the present decline has taken the planet about a sixth of the way toward the Ice Age average. Others regard the cooling as a reversion to the “little ice age” conditions that brought bitter winters to much of Europe and northern America between 1600 and 1900...”

“Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve.”

(photograph of the article plus a transcript in larger print - on the page of a conservative blog - very clean site, loads quickly, no ads). . .

I've got the Newsweek article. I am not suggesting the belief in cooling during the 70's was untrue.

Just making the point that the TIME cover is a hoax, and can compromise our arguments if we present it as fact, and get called on it.

For an even better expose, see:
