The Federal Communications Commission announced Friday that it was putting on hold a controversial study of American newsrooms, after complaints from Republican lawmakers and media groups that the project was too intrusive.

FCC spokeswoman Shannon Gilson said Chairman Tom Wheeler agreed with critics that some of the study's proposed questions for reporters and news directors "overstepped the bounds of what is required."

Maybe we need a studay of the CRAP they are doing at the FCC.

Yet another agency that has become even more useless over time if not at the beginning.

Eliminate the FCC, Depts of Energy, Education, Housing, the EPA, Commerce, Transportation, etc.

All useless and a waste of money on bloated bureaucracies.

When I wrote articles for the local paper they were randomly edited for political correctness. Something that was politically unacceptable in one flew just fine in another one. There was no ryme or reason. I asked the editor for a list of what she looked for and her response was, “Oh, I just know it when I see it.” These were articles intended to feature the paper’s advertisers. Sometimes she’d take stuff out and tell me, “Oh, that was too pro-business.” (She was an old Volvo driving hippy from the ‘60’s and thought “business” and “profit” were bad words. I laughed when she got laid off because they weren’t making any “profit.”)

The sheer randomness of the censorship made it impossible to write even a single sentence. I’d self-sensor and end up with writer’s block. Finally, I decided to write the most outrageous stuff I could think of. That broke the writer’s block and some of it made it into print and some didn’t.

Just the thought that somebody with a known viewpoint is going to read something, especially somebody connected to the body regulating your business, would serve to self-sensor what they might not like.

“...overstepped the bounds of what is required.”

Yep. Because NOTHING should be required. Check the First Amendment, and then find the clause in the US Constitution that authorizes fedgov to be in the ‘communications’ business in any way.

“putting on hold” means waiting until they can be slipped in under the radar. This is not good news. “Killed the plan” would be good news.

Daylight once again sends the cockroaches scurrying...

...and once under their rocks, the 'story' disappears, and the criminal perps are never identified and made accountable (like maybe fired?!

I am sick of this crap. Observe From ten days ago!:

Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission, where I am a commissioner, does not agree. Last May the FCC proposed an initiative to thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country. With its "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs," or CIN, the agency plans to send researchers to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. A field test in Columbia, S.C., is scheduled to begin this spring. [Feb 10, 2014]

Oh by the Way is Anyone Paying Attention?

Where are our Conservative members of the House and the Senate?
Representing our interests or their own?

Why aren't they asking who originated this clearly unconstitutional abomination?
Not what office.
What individual?

Who originated this thing?
Who approved it?
Who allowed it to actually be implemented?

NAMES, DAMMIT!!!
Wake up, GOP!

"putting on hold"

A Marxist term for ,"OK we'll do it behind the scenes and you won't know about it". Sort of like, "You have to pass the bill to find out what's in it".

Not good enough. Tell that Nazi slut that she’s goosestepping on the 1st amendment and if she continues, we have a choice of lampposts to hang her Nazi ass.

Here’s the equation: You threaten us, we threaten you.

It’s the Overton Window...

They start at 1... Move to 10... EVERYBODY screams... They Retreat to 6 or 7... Everyone is happy and we move along... But now the starting point is 6 or 7 & not 1...

This is how it has been done for 100+ years with Progressives....

Why bother with political commissars when the left media will dutifully report whatever dear leader says as gospel?

Translation: Waiting for all the hubbub to die down, then sneak it in with no announcement (and tell the media to not say a word).

First it'll start out as a 'limited study' with 'researchers'. They'll never go away. The incremental end result is a Zampolit in every newsroom.

Like a stiletto wound, they always start small and expand.

This is basically just another try at the “fairness doctrine” and also an attempt to get large amounts of the airwaves set aside for Obama’s stalking horse, the supposedly oppressed minority. There is considerable black ownership of programs, frequencies, etc. and this is not necessary; it’s all an attempt to use blacks as a front for extending leftist government control, and also to rev up his black base (for whom he has done absolutely nothing and who are worse off than when he got elected) for 2014.
