WASHINGTON On July 31, 2012, a little-known state attorney in black ostrich-skin boots named Ted Cruz shocked the Lone Star States political establishment when, facing incredible odds, he defeated popular Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary race for Senate.
Within a year, Cruz would be a household name across the country and considered a possible candidate for the presidency. With another congressional election season approaching in November, Cruzs story has inspired a new crop of little-known candidates who want to replicate his success. While Cruz may be the least popular man in the Senate, his popularity soars outside the Beltway, where he has become a model for a new generation of long shots.
Rob Maness, a retired Air Force colonel based in Madisonville, La., is one of them. Maness is one of four declared Republican candidates now vying for a chance to unseat vulnerable Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu in Louisiana. He's raised almost a half a million dollars in his quest to assert himself as the hard-right tea party alternative to Republican front-runner House Rep. Bill Cassidy. Recent state polls put Maness in the single digits when pitted against Landrieu and Cassidy, but in the example of Cruz and other successful tea party insurgents who seemingly came out of nowhere to seize their partys senate nomination, Maness sees a path to victory.

Screw what the polls say. Folks out there making comments about where he is in the polls, has no chance to win, haven't got the $$ to win are the reason why this country gets stuck with RINOs or Dems office. I say those folks should get off their lazy arse and at least get his name out for recognition, if they don't want to donate to the campaign.
Plese excuse my rant.
I’m with you. Maness is the man. And still plenty of time for him to move up and gain momentum.
I also saw the RNC’s rule BS that so fired up the grass roots with anger. They sabotaged several good Tea Party supported candidates. They helped write state rules that were calculated to kept good candidates out of the race.
RINO season is open. There is no bag limit.
I am hoping to see a bumper crop harvest of RINOs in this Open Season!
Happy Hunting, People!
GIT SOME!
RAH!
It is always the same.
O North got defeated in part because ‘they’ started railing you would waste your vote as North would have been a loner as the D’s wouldn’t like him and the R’s weren’t ‘ready for change’.
Same as the drilling for oil 40 years ago ‘they’ said no sense for off shore/north slope/Western US etc etc etc as it will be at least 5 years before it would be ready to go and we could come up with an alternative before that.
35 years ago ‘they’ said no sense drilling now, it will be 5 years etc etc etc....
30 years ago ‘they’......you get the point this goes on every 5 years or so...
IF O North had been elected T Cruz would have had more friends etc
If we had done all that drilling 40 some years ago, we would be awash in oil
OH YES, still no closer to an ‘alternate’ fuel so the only progress is NO OIL ...
They push electric cars then castigate oil and coal and ‘sell’ windmills and such....
Like Pogo said “WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US”
The RINOs have shown themselves to be scared of Ted Cruz
Hollis has only been a legislator for two years. He has a successful career in coins and metals.
That can't be repeated enough.
Maness is the best of the lot and a real conservative, hope word gets out.
