AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday condemned inflammatory remarks by Ted Nugent that resurfaced when the outspoken rocker this week joined Republican Greg Abbott's gubernatorial campaign.
Nugent was quoted in an interview with Guns.com last month as calling President Barack Obama a "subhuman mongrel." He appeared with Abbott during two campaign stops Tuesday, a decision that Democratic opponent Wendy Davis called "repulsive."
Perry said on CNN's "Situation Room" that Nugent making outrageous comments shouldn't surprise anyone. But he condemned his language about Obama.
"I got a problem calling the president a mongrel. I do have a problem with that," said Perry, who is not running for re-election. "That is an inappropriate thing to say."

Gov. Perry has a problem with the truth?
Perry is correct. It’s a disgrace to mongrels everywhere to be associated with Obama.
Running away from Ted is the wrong thing for Republicans to do.
Yeah, that’ll get Perry a few temporary brownie points. Republicans eating conservatives for short political gains that quickly evaporate.
I call him a smidgeon. You got a problem with that?
Perry condemned the mongrel part but left the sub-human comment alone.
I would agree. Obama is a pure bred sub-human.
“Mixed Breed” is politically correct, as that’s what the lib animal-lovers say. Or the term used by that great representative of black culture in the 70s, George Jefferson: “zebra-striped”!
I strongly agree.
I thought Perry was a (lot) smarter than this.
sub human - cosi e cosi
You will note of course that he did not disagree with the rest of Ted’ statements,
Ted Nugent: Sorry about the subhuman mongrel verbiage
I will try to elevate my vernacular to the level of those great men that Im learning from in the world of politics
In an interview with conservative radio talk show host and CNN commentator Ben Ferguson, Nugent first apologized not necessarily to the President, but on behalf of much better men than myself, referring to Texas politicians such as Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott.
Nugent went on to say, I apologize for using the street fighter terminology of subhuman mongrel instead of just using more understandable language. He then used phrases like violator of his oath to the Constitution; the liar that he is and elaborated by criticizing Obamas handling of certain issues, such as the presidents broken promise on Obamacare. I will try to elevate my vernacular to the level of those great men that Im learning from in the world of politics, Nugent said.
When prompted by Ferguson to clarify, Are you apologizing to the president of the United States of America Barack Obama for calling him a subhuman mongrel? Nugent replied, yes
I love Ted Nugent!
Still waiting for Obama to apologize to us Tea Party members for calling us “Teabaggers” but hey, when a lib says something disgusting about a Conservative its A OK
Rick Perry took time away from forcing STD vaccinations on little girls, NAFTA superhighways, and free college for Illegal Aliens...to whine about Nugent
And folks thing Perry is conservative
What’s wrong with the classic “POS”? It gives Obama unworthy attention making up new names.
Don’t worry. His fan club will arrive soon to tell us what a great president Perry would have made.
Of course, as is often the case where a backbone is involved, the good Gov ends up defending the problem. Guess that back surgery was to remove his spine afterall.
“I got a problem calling the president a mongrel.”
You are what you eat.
Why do these dumbass Republicans ALWAYS let the press and the dems tell them what they should do. Idiots all of them. Ted is right of course.
Ted Nugent Rocks!!!Gov. Perry, for your sake, don’t diss Ted.
Someone should tweet that to Ted Nugent. He wasn’t making it up:)
Odumbo, like many other libs, says publicly that being gay is A-OK. But he'll gladly use a gay reference as a pejorative when he is seeking to disparage conservatives. The pro-gay left should call him on that hypocrisy. But they won't.
Okay,.....he’s not sub-human.
Perry is sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong.
Harry Reid tried to pass the DREAM Act, conservatives condemned him. Rick Perry passes his own version of the DREAM Act and he's Mr. Wonderful. Incredible.
So maybe he wished Ted would have just told BO “Adios mo fo”?
Frankly...Nugent is nothing more than a musician.
This whole thing is a tempest in a teapot. I don’t see this kind of uproar when the Dems campaign with Communist entertainers.
yeah it degrades mongrels. and subhumans.
My dog is a mongrel. Loyal, smart, and awesome. She has none of the attributes of an,,, “Obama”.
My daily assessment of the mongrel dictator is a lot less cordial or repeatable.
Hes just doing his part for the GOPe’s ‘Hands off Obama” campaign. Which comes as no shock to anyone that ever paid the least bit of attention to where the guy’s actual priorities lie.
Lets face it. The GOP wants nothing to interfere with the ascendancy of Hillary to the throne. And such ‘harsh language’ might just help people wake the hell up.
Can’t have that...
I agree. It’s disgraceful for good-hearted loving Mongrels with Barky the DogEater.
People like Nugent should be pointing out the “teabagger” remarks. Perry and company sure won’t.
And I dont remember anyone in the media demanding that Martin Bashir be fired for the disgusting things he said about Sarah Palin, heck the entire crew on MSNBC should have to apologize for the nasty things they say about Republicans daily, but do they have to apologize, of course not
he said it first.....
That should've been Ted Nugent's (or ANY Pubbie's) response to this nonsense. Ask when the last time the Dems and the leftist media demanded an apology from ANYONE for saying things about Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, George Bush, etc
I thought he was an LEO.
I’ll have to take your word for it. I can’t stand to hear the mongrel’s voice.
Perry is also campaigning for Cornball again.
Your tag line gives me a huge chuckle.:)
I’m sure Ted is an LEO...somewhere...:)
He made both comments. I was just adding to the conversation.
I’m not going to bash Perry on this. Perry didn’t bash Nugent....just said it was inappropriate to call the president a mongrel.
Well, that IS unfortunate.
