He'll Take Your Truck with His Pen and His Phone
Townhall.com ^ | February 22, 2014 | John Ransom

Posted on 02/22/2014 4:11:46 AM PST by Kaslin

Now that he's solved the problem of the economy being so bad-- by deciding to ignore it-- Obama's turned his attention to the latest improvements he can make to the automotive industry. And government.

He’s going to get tough on trucks.

Again.

“President Obama will announce on Tuesday that his administration will begin developing the next phase of tighter fuel efficiency standards for medium and heavy-duty vehicles, according to the White House,” reports USAToday.

And once again, he’ll use an executive order, bypassing Congress for your own good.

“The president will order the Environmental Protection Agency and Transportation Department's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” continues the four-color national rag, “to develop and issue new fuel-efficiency and greenhouse gas standards by March 31, 2016, according to a White House report on the executive action Obama will announce.”

In cooperation with the Obama White House the term “executive order” appears nowhere in the story.

Instead, the administration has continued their Orwellian assault on the English language by changing the words "executive order" to “executive action.”

While it’s true that the term “executive action” has been around for a while, this is the first time that the emphasis has been so widely put on turning it from a verb into a noun.

I think Congress ought to order Obama to wear a special “executive action figure” suit whenever making these announcements, so they can emphasize the verby nature of the administration’s assault on Congress.

After all, many employers have mandatory dress requirements: the military, the NBA, Carl’s Jr.

Why not the president?

He could even sell space on the suit to his bundlers in return for his presidential support for one lucky bundler to become King of Siam or His Highness the Akhund of Swat.

The presidential announcement on fuel efficiency comes from the parking lot of a Safeway distribution center—pick me, pick me!—which was selected because Safeway has been VERY cooperative with other Obama EPA initiatives, according to USAToday.

Previously Obama jacked up light duty truck standards, in cooperation with Ford, GM, and the other lackeys of the corporate state.

In January, light duty truck sales inched up 2.4 percent, while car sales were down 8.3 percent compared to 2013.

The light duty fuel efficiency standards won’t go into effect until AFTER Obama is in office in 2017. So get them while they are hot.

After me, the deluge.

Light duty trucks are an integral part of the economy because they are used in the construction and utility trades.

Heavy-duty trucks are an integral part of the economy because they haul freight for us.

Obama would have you believe that without government intervention, businesses don’t care about fuel efficiency.

They actually care more than the government does because it really is their money they use to pay for gas.

Fuel efficiency standards cost more than any benefit they create for businesses-- as much as $2 billion per year-- they cost lives because they under-power cars and trucks, and finally, they address a problem that doesn’t exist.

The United States is a fairly efficient user of carbon per dollar of GDP compared to other countries. The European Union does better, but they have a more urbanized, central populations, oh, and have you seen the price of gas in Europe?

The Presidential Poseable Executive Action Figure has, and he likes what he sees.

So when the fuel efficiency thing doesn't work, expect more Presidential Poseable Executive Action on gas prices too.

It works out to about $12 a gallon here in Italy which explains the preponderance of Fiat 500s and Pandas on the road.

I’m told private people in Europe don’t have trucks. They’re dirt common in the US. A truck lets you maintain your own property, build your own buildings and projects and make money on the side helping those without trucks. They’re as essential to American freedoms as guns. The less regulation the better. Obama threatened to fundamentally change the US. We need to fundamentally change our government to get rid of millions of petty dictators controlling everything from what we eat to what we pay for.

Back in Germany in the early 70s, our teams were heading to a couple of remote mountaintops to work on a comm link between them.

On the way through the countryside, I came up on a German man whose car had run off the road into the mud. We pulled out a tow strap and hooked it up.

That big six pax Dodge with the 6 cylinders and 4 wheel drive mud grips growled loudly as it steadily tugged his car back on the road.

The look on his face was something to see. All he wanted to know was where he could get one of those Six Pax....

We need to be thanking truckers for hauling our food to the grocery stores. We do NOT need to be giving them a hard time.

I know one young trucker. When I see him, I say, “We appreciate what you do.”

He always says, “Thank you.”

Also, all truckers are armed for protection. They are a rolling army. Ostupida$$ needs to leave truckers alone.

American elections increasingly serve to condone tyranny. El Presidente usurps congress, and congress doesn't care. When the law is what he says it is, why bother to vote? Something big is going to break soon. Our pretend republic must rise again or fall headlong into open despotism.

0vomit, in his vast ignorance, is going to make the situation worse. Apparently he is unaware of Jevon’s Paradox.

See link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox

The more efficient you make things, the greater the demand for fuel. If he succeeds, he will increase fuel consumption, not decrease it.

Taxes work like this, too. Another thing 0vomit and the liberals don’t understand. Raise taxes, lower revenue. But they are not really interested in the environment or in paying the bills. They are interested in punishing their enemies (the “rich” - but only if they are conservative and productive) and they are mostly interested in power and trying to tell other people how to run their lives.

“Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. And unselfishness is letting other people’s lives alone, not interfering with them. Selfishness always aims at creating around it an absolute uniformity of type. Unselfishness recognises infinite variety of type as a delightful thing, accepts it, acquiesces in it, enjoys it. It is not selfish to think for oneself. A man who does not think for himself does not think at all. It is grossly selfish to require of one’s neighbour that he should think in the same way, and hold the same opinions. Why should he? If he can think, he will probably think differently. If he cannot think, it is monstrous to require thought of any kind from him. A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses.” - Oscar Wilde

A used car salesman in our old neighborhood approached my hubby, complaining about trucks and how much gas they use- knowing full well my hubby drives a Ford F-350. A few minutes in the conversation, the used car salesman admitted he and his family were getting ready to drive 3 hrs to the beach because wifey wanted to see the ocean. Hubby had a nice time letting that pw’d,democrap know that HE was the problem. It was like watching a cat play with a baby bird before eating it.

Trucking is a huge American industry.
Has obozo ever heard of the teamsters?

Effectively, the tards are going after diesel engines.
That will create a ripple effect that will harm trucking, power generation, marine engines and a lot more.

This will harm American engine builders and their customers.
