Media Silence Explained?: Soros Fingerprints On FCC Newsroom Probe
Breitbart ^ | 22 Feb 2014 | John Nolte

Posted on 02/22/2014 7:34:50 AM PST by george76

The real mystery behind the FCC's now abandoned "study" to police American newsrooms is why the mainstream media refused to raise holy hell over it. While Obama's lapdogs refused to bark, it was conservative media who fought for newsroom independence and got the FCC to finally back down. Other than the media's natural obedience to Obama, the fact that the fingerprints of left-wing billionaire George Soros have been found on the FCC study might also help to explain the media's silence.

...

The media's hands-off policy with Soros is nothing new

...

The mainstream media not only shares Soros' hard-left vision, but also benefits or hopes to benefit from Soros' bottomless billionaire well of funding. And in return, even though Soros' Tides Foundation is many times larger than the Kochs, the media look the other way for Soros and turn the Kochs into America's bogeyman. Which brings me back to the FCC proposal to police America's newsrooms.

As enamored and protective as the media are of Obama, when the Administration was caught spying on journalists last year, his Media Palace Guards still squawked. But still, this attempted move by the FCC, which is probably the scariest move against the media by the federal government since the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, resulted in almost uniform silence by the mainstream media. If alternative and conservative media hadn't been vocal, nothing would have stopped FCC from interrogating and intimidating the press.

Fortunately, this old Leftist can’t buy eternal life. His day of judgment is right around the corner in the only Supreme Court that counts.

The Son of Satan spawned and has sons to take his place, if he ever kicks the bucked. But it looks like Soros also paid off the grim reaper.

“the FCC’s now abandoned “study” to police American newsrooms”

I don't believe for a second that this has been abandoned. I think the odds are extremely high that this will tactic will be continued and will eventually succeed. News organizations are now either totally controlled by the Democrat Party or so intimidated that they no longer tell the truth.

We are rapidly approaching the time when when America will no longer have representative government but rather be a one party dictatorship with fraudulent elections like in the former Soviet Union. We are rapidly approaching a time when there will no longer be freedom of speech or freedom of religion. We are rapidly approaching a time when America's economic leadership will be a thing of the past and we will be a backward, third world dictatorship.

I don’t think anyone much reacted because the contractor deal in this....was not to be in anyone’s newsroom. The deal (you can even find the original basis of the suggested contract out there to read yourself)...was to simply collect a random collection of newcasts, and give them a grade against eight categories, and survey different language/culture options. No where in the contract...were they going to stand in the building, news center, or news control area. Besides....you can imagine some contractor for a gov’t agency trying to do this...with no legal power.

Now, if it were GS employees from the FCC....it’d be different. They’d have some authority if they wanted to rig up something.

This was all a collection idea....sitting in some Maryland neighborhood, and just monitoring networks to present a report later on. How this report would have been of any value....is beyond me. You could do the same stuff with 14-year old kids...for a high-school class. Paying out several hundred thousand for this kind of stuff is pretty stupid, if you ask me.

He is one of this country’s most dangerous enemies. Due to his wealth, the left wing mediots either are controlled by him or they worship him.

It’s weird how many journalists are cowards these days. FOX is about the only place you’ll find journalists who will stand up to the fascists in this country.

"Abandoned," or "suspended" are just semantic maneuvers designed to lull unsuspecting Americans into complacency. So-called "progressives" never stop their determined efforts to control.

Perhaps these enemies of freedom who fear a truly free press should consult the Founders. Although President Thomas Jefferson, Author of America's Declaration of Independence, was the object of criticism from the press of his day, here are some of his warnings about the necessity of a free press:

"The press [is] the only tocsin of a nation. [When it] is completely silenced... all means of a general effort [are] taken away." --Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Cooper, Nov 29, 1802. (*) ME 10:341

"Since truth and reason have maintained their ground against false opinions in league with false facts, the press confined to truth needs no other legal restraint. The public judgment will correct false reasonings and opinions on a full hearing of all parties, and no other definite line can be drawn between the inestimable liberty of the press and its demoralizing licentiousness. If there be still improprieties which this rule would not restrain, its supplement must be sought in the censorship of public opinion." --Thomas Jefferson: 2nd Inaugural Address, 1805. ME 3:381

"The functionaries of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents. There is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves, nor can they be safe with them without information. Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe." --Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816. ME 14:384

"Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it." --Thomas Jefferson to John Jay, 1786.

And, finally, but by no means the entirety of Jefferson's thoughts on the need for a press free of bias toward any one political figure or group:

"No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth. Our first object should therefore be, to leave open to him all the avenues to truth. The most effectual hitherto found, is the freedom of the press. It is, therefore, the first shut up by those who fear the investigation of their actions."(Underlining added for emphasis) --Thomas Jefferson to John Tyler, 1804. ME 11:33

Soros's funding of these efforts in the universities represents the mindset of the Left and the "mind controllers" in the Administration.

Youth have not been taught enough about "the American way" to know what that means. They may even confuse it with the kind of liberal thought of "People for the American Way"--another older "progressive" organization.

There is a truly principled argument to be made for the Founders' Constitution's protection of free speech and freedom of the press.

When one dimension of liberty is threatened, then all are at risk, and this blatant example of unconstitutional intrusion of government power by this "battle" deserves a more competent argument than is currently being provided by even Fox or so-called "conservative" organizations.

It's time for a long overdue history and civics lessons, especially for the young! Tell young Americans about why Thomas Jefferson, who was criticized by the press of his day, was so outspoken on the idea of a free press! Bet they've never heard it in school.

Claim a larger battleground--a battle of ideas. Contrast those ideas with those of dictatorships and totalitarian governments which have oppressed their citizens and controlled the marketplace of ideas by restricting the press!

Stop playing in the Administration's playpen. Force it onto an unfamiliar battleground where the ideas of liberty are presented versus the ideas of tyranny. Contrast the 200-year history of America with that of every totalitatian regime, and future generations will mark this as a turning point for freedom.

"But none of the means of information are more sacred, or have been cherished with more tenderness and care by the settlers of America, than the press. Care has been taken that the art of printing should be encouraged, and that it should be easy and cheap and safe for any person to communicate his thoughts to the public. And you, Messieurs printers, whatever the tyrants of the earth may say of your paper, have done important service to your country by your readiness and freedom in publishing the speculations of the curious. The stale, impudent insinuations of slander and sedition with which the gormandizers of power have endeavored to discredit your paper are so much the more to your honor; for the jaws of power are always opened to devour, and her arm is always stretched out, if possible, to destroy the freedom of thinking, speaking, and writing." - A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1765

Here

"Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter." - Thomas Jefferson

What’s worse is that soroz has at least one son who is apparently as antiAmerican, anti-Christian, and anti-Jewish as his daddy— and is already taking charge of some of the funding operations ( this gleaned from a published report a year or two ago). It seems we are not done getting shafted and undermined by this guy

“Due to his wealth, the left wing mediots either are controlled by him or they worship him.”

Exactly. I did contract work for Israeli companies back in 2011, and we were constantly running into leftist organizations controlled by Soros. Soros has bought and paid for about a dozen PR organizations that spew out lies and propaganda. These press releases are sent out to hundreds of leftist writers who then write them up as “news.” They are joined by millions of useful idiots who believe that crap.

These Soros followers are some of the most repugnant, vile people I have ever met.

Damn. I missed this.

What is the FCC intent here? At least what they claim?

It is clear that the goal is to regulate Conservative speech. Liberals are steaming about the success of Conservative radio and television. It is the primary reason for their failures in recent history. Well at least as far back as the 80s. Not surprising I guess.
