As parliament voted to oust Yanukovych Saturday and he fled to a pro-Russian bastion in east Ukraine after months of bloody protest again his rule, thousands of Ukrainians wondered awestruck around the breathtaking luxury of his abandoned property some 110 miles from Kiev after it was taken by demonstrators.
"I am in shock," said retired military servicewoman Natalia Rudented, as she looked out over the manicured lawns studded with statues of rabbits and deers.
"In a country with so much poverty how can one person have so much -- he has to be mentally sick.

Is it that Google Maps doesn’t have images of the area, that they didn’t know where he lived (so they couldn’t look it up) or that they don’t know about Google maps over there? Because golf courses and yachts are big enough to be visible on satellite photos.
Maybe gooberment restrictions on internet content/access? Do ya think Putin has a luxury dacha someplace? ;>}

I noted on the other thread last night... Seeing all the pictures leaves me a bit underwhelmed after that headline. Sure, it’s a nice place and maybe the Roman party barge is a bit much. But in all it’s not really all that over the top. Lots of more ordinary tinpot despots have done better. There’s people in my own town with more gaudy houses than that.
This sounds very much like the “Rich and Famous”lifestyle of our”Resident Dictator”??????????????????
Look at how wealthy most of our politicians become after a few decades in Washington. Seems like I’ve read than Pelosi’s net worth has increased some 1200% since she arrived in DC.
People think it can’t happen here. When there’s a gap that keeps the elite totally removed from the other 90% or so of the population, there can be a breaking point. I wonder how some of these inner cities will fare if just a few things happen to inflame the pent-up frustrations and the idleness of a huge percentage of the population.
No kidding. Have any of these people ever been to Africa? The leaders there routinely live high on the hog while their people are mired in poverty. Find a country where the leaders don’t plunder the people. I doubt there is one.

Under google images there are several satellite images of the area, some with arrows and labels (not in English). So yes, people knew about it. Most likely they didn’t know what to do about it.
