President Barack Obamas national security adviser said Sunday it would be a grave mistake for Russia to intervene militarily in Ukraine.
Susan Rice said on NBCs Meet the Press that in Obamas phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday the two agreed that a political settlement in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, should ensure the unity of the country and the right of Ukrainians to express their free will. She was asked whether the White House fears Putin will send Russian troops into Ukraine.
That would be a grave mistake, she said. Its not in the interest of Ukraine or of Russia or of Europe or the United States to see the country split.

It’s not her business to say.
What is Obama going to do? Declare war on Russia?
Putin laughs at this clown.
Hmm, another line in the sand that will keep moving?
Translation: “We will write them a letter, telling them how angry we are.”
Look, Susan, if President Jarrett wasn't willing to use military force to save Americans, why should Putin be worried she'd use it to save Ukrainians?
If anything, Putin knows that Jarrett's mouthpiece will do the exact opposite of whatever he says.
Barry may have just given Vlad the "go" signal.
But everyone knows, that Obama speaks big words but carries a little stick... a very little stick. So Susan, just what are you prepared to do about it?
Pause to laugh, that is.
The United States has been rendered irrelevant.
Is this really the best venue to be discussing his manhood..................
Rice to Putin-Dear Sir-f*** you-strong letter follows...
The whole world knows this Rice is no Condi, and her boss is a spineless wimp when confronted by just about anyone on the world stage...
I’m surprised the chronic liar rice didn’t blame a utube video for causing the problems in Ukraine. She is an ultimate affirmative-action loser.
Just like it would have been a mistake for the US to move again the terrorists attacking and murdering American embassy officials.
I disagree. She’s National Security Adviser. However, it seems she’s being deliberately provocative in her choice of words.
Whoo! I’ll bet Putin is shaking in his boots over this bit of news.....
I’d be more interested to hear what Condoleezza Rice has to say about this. Nobody cares what Susan Rice has to say about this, least of all the man she works for.
...and then there’s that Gay rights issue. We truly are laughing stocks of the world.
LOL, Its not in the interest of Fascist Western Europe or the United States to see the country split, but very much in the interest of Russia who will gain absolute control of an important naval base, and absolute control of the petro and nat gas pipelines through Ukraine.
One has to wonder whether barky actually believes Putin will take his threat seriously, or if barky's threat is meant entirely for domestic consumption.
I'm thinking the latter.
A STERNly-worded letter, no doubt:
This regime has a great track record on international affairs....
Hey babe....... you have no credibility. Go back and crawl under your desk
Your boss is a world class incompetent and you are his lying mouthpiece.
Does anyone with a brain larger than the size of a pinhead think that the Russians care what Susan Rice, John Kerry, or Barrack Obama have to say about the Ukraine?
Oh, and exactly what would this president do? Just send a stern verbal warning or two (remember the line in the sand stuff?), then look like a fool.
The last time an idiot leftist American (Wes Clark) tried to start a war with Russia, the Brits on the ground told him “No”. Its even funnier when you find out that this is the guy who told him no.
Never judge a book by its cover, Blunt has some steel in him.
The problem will probably be those "pesky" Ukrainians, who I'm sure still have vivid memories of Stalin's Russia, and Stalin's murderous spree, as covered up by Walter Duranty.
The whole Kosovo debacle was one of our darkest moments....Totally ruined any hopes for reapproachment with Russia.
Rice was a liberal idiot. How she ever got into the Whitehut is beyond me.
What, you actually think people in government get their positions based on their abilities?
I know, how stupid of me. I should know better.
We stand zero chance of winning a new cold war with Russia.
Financially we’re only in marginally better shape than they were at the end of the last one.
Isn’t she the “Its all the Video’s Fault” Lady? Isn’t she the say anything for the greater glory of Obama Chick? Why, why would anyone believe a word out of her mouth? If, Russian Nationals are threatened by the Rebel Government in Ukraine, Putin will send in the Tanks to protect them. He may even be forced to seize 1/3 of their land (where the Russian speaking people live and that should be part of Russia)—Does he have a treaty with the elected leaders of Ukraine? Maybe he will support them in a Civil War? What can we do? Do we want to get into WW III over this question? What will the EU do—if anything?
We shouldn't be relevant to this. Thank goodness we don't have McCain threatening war with Russia.
Rice should just shut up. And so should the Russia baiters.
Perhaps another red line?
All right. Who wrote Rice’s talking points THIS time?
Meanwhile, regime morons will get back to cutting military pay and benefits, while decrying our inability to respond. /sarc
Is this woman known for anything other than telling a lie 5 times on 5 TV channels?
Condi Rice warned a few years ago that the US should stand against Russia’s provocation in Georgia. If they had listened to her then we probably wouldn’t have this Ukraine problem.
Recently heard on a radio talk show: The only person in the world afraid of American power is Barack Obama.
The Red Line Man.
All Putin has to do is cut off gas supply to....the EU.
Those statists in Brussels would capituale in seconds if gas prices skyrocketed
Well, that turned out to be Georgian aggression against the Ossetians. If Condi sided with the Georgian gangsters and McCain, she was wrong (again).
The way to combat Obama is NOT nostalgia for Bush/Rice/Neocon foreign policy.
