Kansas candidate posted grisly images (Milton Wolf)
Politico ^ | 2/23/14 | JAMES HOHMANN

Posted on 02/23/2014 10:55:48 AM PST by Second Amendment First

A Kansas radiologist running for Senate posted grisly X-rays of patients who had been shot on his Facebook page and engaged in joking online banter about the images.

Milton Wolf, challenging Sen. Pat Roberts in a Republican primary, acknowledged Sunday that he posted “insensitive” comments online, which he described as “mistakes.”

a devastating story in the Topeka Capital-Journal, which reported that he wrote that a patient could not complain about the awkward way his head was positioned for an X-ray, published on Facebook, because he was dead. He said a man decapitated by gunfire resembled an alien in the movie “Terminator.” And he posted another image of a man who had been shot in the temple.

Wolf accused Roberts of “character assassination” in a 424-word statement.

“To those I have offended, I am truly sorry and I ask for your forgiveness,” he said.

Accompanying the newspaper’s story is an eight-minute video of a testy interview with the candidate. Wolf notes that he has authored medical textbooks and argues that it is okay to post images as long as names are redacted, something the paper quotes medical ethics professionals disputing.

The reporter asks, “Do you still post images of dead people on the Internet?”

“I’m not going to play these kind of gotcha games with you,” Wolf responded.

Wolf has the backing of conservative outside groups such as the Senate Conservatives Fund and the Madison Project.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee, which supports incumbents, quickly attacked what it described as “freakish behavior.” Officials faulted the outside groups, who often antagonize the establishment, for failing to properly vet primary challengers before offering endorsements.

“Wolf is now embroiled in serious ethical and legal questions and challenges, effectively destroying any small hope that he had for a serious campaign,” said NRSC spokesman Brad Dayspring.

The tea party challenger, who often notes that he is a distant cousin of President Barack Obama, said he removed the old posts years ago.

“Senator Pat Roberts wants to attack me as a doctor rather than giving Kansans a reason to vote for him,” Wolf said. “It’s sad.”

is this ALL the media could come up with to destroy him?

It shows a serious lack of judgement. Anyone looking for the support of constitutional conservatives has to be aware that they'll be scrutinized, brought down by the media whenever possible. So, yes, there's a double standard. In this case, a doctor who's pro-life joking about gun shot victims is prohibitive. Keep in mind he doesn't have a track record for voting, and we've been backstabbed before by frauds who campaign for the conservative vote.

Better we send our money to someone running against a backstabber, and let Pat Roberts find a place to live in Kansas. He's not the worst in the Senate.

I am beginning to wonder if some of the “Tea Party” candidates are being planted. The people I know who support the Tea Party are down to earth, rational, and overall very nice folks. Yet time after time, I see these candidates in races all over the country do and say some incredibly stupid and race losing things. Maybe I an just seeing boogermen behind every bush, but it strikes me as odd that it happens again and again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, please pass the “Duh.”

If we don’t learn to play this game, dig up dirt on the opponent, we’re never going to win. Dem candidates sit fat and happy while we talk about “issues” “taxes” etc. But the dirt is what America pays attention to, not the issues and we’re not going to make that better by ignoring it.

The problem is there is no vetting system. Someone like this needs to be spiked before they get this far into the process.

It is common for medical people to become inured to grisly photos and situations. That’s how they cope. Unfortunately, this behavior in a candidate for public office is completely unacceptable.

Uh, some here in FR have accused me of being a RINO because I have refused to get on board with Wolf. When I said there would be "opposition research" that might bring out things against a total unknown, and I was referring not only to Democrats but liberals and their pals in the media, I was referring to events in his past and present that no one actually knows about.

For those here supporting Wolf, remember that you've not had enough time to really get to know the guy before being totally sold out, when that happens, sometimes you are bitterly disappointed. I truly hope that doesn't happen here but it might.

One doesn't have to be for Roberts to not be ready to sign on to the first self-appointed "conservative" without any background info. The only people you've heard from so far do happen to be strong conservatives but even then, how well do they know this candidate?

So far, all you've heard from and about this candidate besides the fact that Roberts has been in DC too long and he no longer occupies a home in KS, is what Wolf says about himself.

How he will face criticism, and it can and should come for every candidate before being elected, will begin to tell Kansans whether or not he's ready for "prime time," as they say.

This is the process of vetting and your response is the same as democrats had when it came to Wendy Davis. Nothing is known about Wolf, so why would I take down a pretty good conservative for someone who merely says "I'm Tea Party."?

You echo what I've been trying along to say about Wolf but many of my FR "friends" have taken that to mean that I am not conservative, a RINO, a sellout to GOPe, and then worse.

I gave defending myself last week after a couple of vicious attacks (that and suffering a severe case of Bronchitis) knowing that research into Wolf will bring out more than this.

We all should know far more about a candidate before signing on board.

I fear some credible national conservative Wolf backers will wish they had known more about the guy before staking their considerable reputations on him!

No one can give Wolf any kind of rating as he's never been a candidate, never been elected, never votes up or down on conservative/liberal issues and more importantly, never supported a conservative for office, at least never in the State of Kansas. In fact, research into Wolf will show, he's not long been a registered voter of any political party and rarely voted.

The ACU no longer qualifies as a conservative group in my opinion.

What gets me is that a lot of these people are from states that have Senators that are way to the left of Roberts and want us to throw him away for a total unknown. Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
