Egypt's interim Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi has unexpectedly announced the resignation of his government.

He gave no reason in his televised address, but it comes amid a series of strikes, including one by public sector workers and rubbish collectors.

The state-run newspaper al-Ahram said he had been asked to stay on as prime minister until a successor was named.

He was appointed in July after the military overthrew President Mohammed Morsi following opposition protests.

And suddenly the EU (or its member countries) has found lots of money and is promising it all to Ukraine.

The money being promised to the moochers in Ukraine will come from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) who's single largest contributor is the United States taxpayer. So in addition to subsidizing socialist Europe's national security, we get to pay for their socialized nation building schemes as well.

Not exactly unexpected....he has wanted to do so for some time but was asked to wait. Apparently the whole cabinet goes if the head guy resigns, according to their laws.

This shouldn't be taken as unplanned IMO, rather part of the moves we'll see develop from here out.

You are right, but apart from the IMF the Euro-commisar (commissioner) Ollie Rehn has promised some billion euros from the EU, and the British FM has also promised to money to Ukraine - money that the same government couldn't find to assist the victims of the flooding in Somerset!

In the US, energy prices are high, and food prices are high. The MSM mostly try to ignore the story.

If the middle-class and working-class of rest of the world are feeling squeezed, they will have less tolerance for BS.

A war is coming. This time it will be a war between those who produce, versus those who live off the production of others. It will not be pretty.

Just for a starter:

Ukraine’s interim government said the country needs $35 billion of financial assistance to avoid default....

But as we have learned from Greece, Portugal, Spain, Ireland etc the first installment is never the last one.

From your link: "Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said the U.S. was prepared to help Ukraine return to a path of democracy, stability and growth. U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne agreed."

Obama and company are probably going to create more billions out of thin air that we then need to cover with more debt bought by China and other investor countries or simply by the Fed buying our own debt and weakening the US.

Concurring bump.

Chairman Merkel just vetoed another German aid package for Greece because of the strength of the anti-EU Alternatives for Deutchland (AfD) party ahead of the spring elections for European Parliament.

Once the pesky EP elections are over and provided the European nationalist parties remain divided, the money spigots will be turned back on.

Not only US tax payers will suffer. Here is a brand new headline from Der Spiegel.

Kostenexplosion bei Strom, Öl, Gas: Energiearmut in Deutschland nimmt drastisch zu

(Exploding costs for electrical current, oil, gas: “energy poverty” in Germany rises dramatically.)

Rising energy costs is becoming a problem for more and more Germans. Only between 2008 and 2011 the percentage of so called energy poor households has increased from 13.8 to 17%.

Well, thanks to EU's / Germany's involvement in Ukraine the energy costs may rise a bit further.
