Ha! As long as there are subsidies for illegals to come, they will come. Free healthcare, tax deductions for all your kids outside the states, earned income tax credits, and more. Why would they stop coming?
At best the oil industry in Mexico will make a slight dent until we have a Tea Party President that OKs the Keystone Pipeline.

Obama will have to adjust by bringing in more Muslim refugees from wars caused by Muslims.

He may not be a great political debater but, in my view, this governor would be one fine president of the USA!

There will be no solution as long as both parties continue to funnel taxpayer money at illegals and their families.
A paycheck for nothing will attract better than a paycheck for an honest days work anytime.

OK, so this will take working illegal immigrants to Mexico. That will not ease the amazing burden of illegal immigrants that are here to get all their free stuff, which is at least half of the problem.

I have always said that the solution had to come with reform in the Mexican government.

I hope this happens before the Prez election in 2016. I want to stand at the border and count how many of their “base” votes the Dems are losing as they cross the Rio Grande one at a time.

There’s another reason for this to happen too - the simple lack of jobs in the US. They came here to work and earn enough money to send back to support family in Mexico. Check the out-migration stats...

The new jobs that result from the energy boom, Perry predicted, will attract immigrant labor that would otherwise come to the United States. Don't put up too big of fence. We might have to sneak across it for jobs and a government which supports a militia fighting back against criminals... well, grudgingly after a couple of missteps. < /sarc, but maybe not in the future>

Immigrants, legal and illegal, are coming from places other than Mexico. We bring in 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS a year, so even if there were a zeroing out of illegal immigration, we would still have major problems.

Problem is, thanks to Obama’s failed Socialism experiment and his enviro-whacko schemes, Americans will now have to cross the Rio Grande to find work in Mexico.

Governor Perry tries entirely too hard to find reasons to minimize the illegal alien problem. His remarks on the issue tanked his presidentail bid in 2012 during the first debate or two in which he participated. A lot of “heartless” voters probably remember.
And here he goes again. If he could break this border state politician, pandering habit, he might become a viable presidential candidate.

...so, our fate of being a sovereign nation is in the hands of a failed state after all, not our own political leadership protecting America by enforcing its own laws. Thanks for clearing that up, Rick.

I guess it comes down to how you define a ‘nation’. If it is almost exclusively defined in financial terms then let’s just do away with our borders. However if a nation is largely defined by its people and culture then Houston we have problem.
