One the easier ways to dispute the moronic, idiotic and (put your own thesauras word here, if you like) idea of the “hockey stick” is the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991.

(This may be in the Independence UK article, but I could not follow the link.)

It destroyed the Clark US Air Force base. It decreased temperatures WORLD WIDE for three to four years.
