So, I lurk on Free Republic quite a bit. Usually it's to read some of the outrageous comments some post here and some of it is to see what your opinions are on certain articles that also get posted elsewhere.
So, a little bit about myself. I'm in my 20s and of Hispanic origin. I was born in New York but moved to Florida when I was three years old. I'm what you guys would consider a "socialist". I don't consider myself a socialist, I'm a supporter of the free market economy except I favor strong government regulations.
While on many issues am probably to the left of the Democratic Party there is one issue I agree with the Republicans but it isn't an issue that would ever sway me to vote for the Republican Party. That issue is gun rights. I love guns and I believe the 2nd amendment is a fundamental right to the people of the United States. I don't believe in a ban on "assault" weapons or on accessories like there is on certain sized magazines. I also support the right for one to properly defend themselves with or without deadly force with your legally owned firearm.
However, on economic and social issues I side with the DNC. I'm probably to the left of the DNC on most issues.
So anyways, ask away.
So you have no problem killing nascent human life?
So you think the government belongs to Wall Street and the president should protect them no matter what crime they commit?
Do you not realize that “strong government regulations” favor cronyism with big business, to keep the little upstarts out?
Welcome, Millenial. This is not a question, just anm observation, really... As long as we can agree on something as important as the 2nd Amendment, I believe that is the beginning of working out our differences and “agreeing to disagree,” remaining civil and amicable toward one another...
Popcorn ping ...
What do you plan to do after you run out of other people’s money?
It’s too late, Gene...he’s already gone....
That didn’t take long!
I remember talking to a guy one time who said he was a conservative on economic and 2nd amendment issues, but was in favor of abortion because it cut down on the number of Hispanic babies.
Kind of the flip side of you.
Well, I’ll start by asking you if you don’t mind engaging in a reasoned, non-inflammatory discussion. I like reasoned discussions and debate, not flame-throwing, riot-gear matches you find round here sometimes.
I teach my kids that the legislature makes laws.
Where did you learn that it’s ok for the President to change a law that was voted on by Congress and that he signed into law? And why do you stand for it for one second?
Do you believe in God, or is government your god?

Uh-huh, saw that coming :)
Go back to DU.
Why did no one hold your President Barack Hussein Obama up to the same kind of scrutiny that would have been applied to anyone else, and why does he continue to get away with his lies?
How do you defend THIS?!?
(And that's one at between 18 and 20 weeks gestation, meaning it is, for all intensive purposes, legal to do even under Texas' new abortion law.)
If you support the free market in any way, shape or form how would you describe yourself as a socialist?
