Justina Pelletier’s Mother Collapses After Court Orders Daughter to Non-Medical Foster Care Facility

BOSTON,—The family of Justina Pelletier was emotionally distraught after a judge sentenced their sick daughter to the foster care system without access to her previous medical care. Justina is at the center of a legal battle between the Pelletier family and Boston Children’s Hospital over custody and proper medical treatment.

Attorney Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel filed a motion for pro hac vice to represent the Pelletiers, but the judge took the rare move of allowing the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) to respond to the motion, effectively denying the specialist attorney from arguing in the hearing.

To keep the case under wraps, the judge ordered media to leave the courtroom and took the unconscionable step of transferring Justina’s custody to the foster care system, where she will not have access to treatment for her mitochondrial disease. Her family is deeply concerned for her life and safety.

Boston Children’s Hospital performed a controversial medical-legal maneuver colloquially called a “parent-ectomy” last year, seizing custody of Justina after disagreeing with her parents and physicians at Tufts Medical Center about her diagnosis and treatment. Since losing custody, Justina’s condition has steeply deteriorated.

After receiving the judge’s shocking decision today, the Pelletier family was heartbroken and distraught at Justina’s plight. Justina’s mom, Linda fainted in the courthouse hallway and had to be taken by ambulance for care.

“I was nearby when Linda collapsed, and it was heartbreaking,” relayed Keith Mason, Personhood USA President. “No parent should suffer as the Pelletiers are suffering. Knowing that their daughter will be cruelly and intentionally transferred to a facility that is unable to care for her medical needs is devastating.”

Rev. Patrick Mahoney, on behalf of the Pelletier family, announced that a national coalition to Free Justina...

these pretensious medical and legal professionals better be right. I have dealt with doctors who get mad if you tell them the diagnosis even if you are right. Their nasty personality takes over.

I would look at racism in the case. The girl and her parents are white, are they being persecuted?

This is a complicated case...except it didn’t start out that way. This girl has already been diagnosed at a hospital in Conn....when issues arose and the family found that their preferred doctor had moved to Boston...they went three hours down to him (instead of sticking with the hospital they’d been with for years).

Boston’s hospital? They didn’t agree with the diagnosis, and instead...said it was mental....triggered by parents in a child-abuse episode. How they came to this....isn’t very clear, but less than twenty-four hours after the kid was admitted....the Conn parents were forced into a court to defend their parental rights.....and they lost temporary control.

I would say what’s left to clean this up....a hundred good men as George Orwell described it...”People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” So we need some Conn rough characters to go down to the hospital in Boston, and remove the kid....bring her back across to Conn, and let the Conn cops protect her the rest of the way.

One lousy hospital....one lousy patient administrator....one lousy Boston judge....and you’ve got a corrupted system. They’ve abused the law, and none will face any punishment if the kid passes from this Earth. That’s the sad part of this story....they really aren’t responsible for her...they are simply pretenders in this game.

beware all children’s hospitals, they look for child abuse first

that being said, it sounds like maybe the original doc sent them to children’s because he suspected Munchens by proxy or whatever it is where the parents gain attention through their kid’s medical issues

If this child dies what MUST happen is the judge responsible for this travesty has to be hunted down
tarred, feathered and hung. NONE of these abuses
are possible without the complicity of blackrobed
pirates who think they have rights and parents don’t.

These types of abuses occur for one basic reason....
because they can. Nobody EVER steps up to hold the
perpetrators PERSONALLY responsible. As long as power
mad sociopaths can run rampant without fear of meaningful
consequences that is exactly what they will do....it is
their nature.

These are some sick, statist bastards, both the hospital that did this and the state agencies and judges who are upholding it.

I am afraid I would have resorted to other forcible means some time ago to get my daughter out of that state and somewhere she can be cared for.

Unbelievable that such things can occur in America. This is just disgusting, sickening...and certainly heart breaking.

The way I understand it, she was being treated for mitochondrial disease by Tufts Medical Center. She got the flu and it was suggested she go to Children’s Hospital for treatment which she did. From there, the Children’s doctor said she did not have mitochondrial disease and contacted the state child protection service which had the girl taken away from her parents.

It doesn’t make sense but that’s it.

Megyn Kelly is following it on Fox News.

It should be noted that this story is not the news on this case. It is one side of a legal/medical dispute. There is certainly another side, and it’s not presented here.

Which is not to say there isn’t very possibly something quite rotten in Denmark.

I am glad that Megyn Kelly is reporting on it, but nobody is covering the details like Glenn Beck. The father made his first public statements on the issue on Glenn’s radio and TV shows.

This is actually far worse than most know. I have not seen Megyn’s coverage but Beck is keeping it as his top story following.

I’m saying that the story as reported may be true, but you simply cannot tell when only one side of a complex issue is presented.

This is the equivalent of having the jury listen to only the prosecution’s case and then rendering a verdict.

The disease is Munchausen by proxy.

There is not enough publically available information in this case to be able to determine if the child is really ill, or if she is a victim of Munchausen by proxy.

Usually, it is the mother who inflicts Munchausen by proxy, while the father, who is completely unaware of what is going on, believes the child to be genuinely ill.

Why am I not surprised you would support the courts in this matter.

There is something “quite rotten in Denmark”, and it is you.

The other side is not talking and is enforcing a gag order on the participants. A year ago, the girl was ice-skating and now she is in a wheel chair. The evidence does not fit your conjectures. If you are interested, google is your friend and you can go and find out what is going on. Megyn Kelly would be interested in what you come up with.

Not unusual that doctors disagree on a diagnosis. So why wasn’t a third doctor or third team of doctors brought in to review the records and examine the child?

Please point out where I said I supported the court decision.

I stated that this article presents only one side of a case, and that there is most likely another side to the story, though quite possibly not a very good one.

So you think it is appropriate to make firm moral judgments after hearing only one side of a story?

FWIW, I personally am highly suspicious of the court’s actions in this case, but reserve final judgment till more information is available.

Perverse indeed. The DCF is the same agency that has lost children in foster care. Over 100 children in their system have died. These bastards follow the liberal principle of "punish the innocent and reward the guilty". This whole rotten situation is then compounded, no doubt, by doctors with fat egos who now don't want their opinions countermanded. Add to it the potential liability of now admitting their diagnosis was wrong and the parents, and Tufts, were right in the first place. These bastards would rather have the child die than admit they made a mistake and overreacted. I hope the parents sue the bastard doctors and DCF officials.
