Western sources: Israel Air Force hits SS-21 batteries, first attack in Syrian war on nuclear-capable missiles
Western military and intelligence sources report that Israeli Air Force strikes in Lebanon and Syria overnight Monday, Feb. 24
came on the heels of the first use in the three-year Syrian war of a Russian-made
nuclear-capable Tochka (Point) surface missile - NATO-coded SS-21 Scarab -
which carries a 480-kilo warhead with a range of 70 km.
These missiles were fired earlier Monday in the Syrian-Hizballah battle for Yabroud.
There was no information about the effect of the Israeli strikes.

Give US eyes to see and wisdom
In Jesus name, Amen
I do hope Israel is not destroying Syrian ordinance that is used to hammer the muzzy rebels. Israel should wait until Syria has eliminated or seriously reduced the jihadi threat.
I am sure they notified our clown king of their intentions to do so. Oh wait, it would have been during his bed time so I guess not.
DEBKA. Could be true or could be BS. Haven’t heard any other reports of this yet.
Probable BS, but I hope not...
Was DEBKA ever *not* BS? Not that I can recall....
DEBKA did report on the Israeli attack on that Syrian reactor way before anyone else did.
The Bear from the North is beginning to come out of hibernation!! Watch Out!!
Yes, they did.
How come the US isn’t helping Israel in this important operation? Never mind! Anti Israel BHO is president.
“Rumor of war” ?
Because the operation is not happening...
Why oh why are we stuck with BHO until 2017? The operation would happen in a big way if we had a real patriot as president, TED CRUZ!
Hey, Obama is really going to be ticked off...
Yeah, DEBKA may or may not be accurate.
It’s being reported by multiple media in Lebanon and Israel but medias not sure if they hit Lebanon or Syria.
Israeli jets have carried out air strikes in eastern Lebanon near the border with Syria, Lebanon's state news agency says.
Israel's military has not commented although an Israeli security source quoted by Reuters said there had been “air force activity in the north”.
Lebanon's national news agency said the air raids took place near the village of Nabi Sheet in the Bekaa Valley.
The Lebanese militant Hezbollah group has a strong presence in the valley.
Correspondents say Lebanon's eastern border is frequently used by smugglers and Israeli planes have targeted the area several times in the past two years.
Security sources say the targets may have been trucks of weapons from Syria destined for Hezbollah.
Israel’s prime minister is refusing to say whether his country carried out an airstrike against an alleged weapons shipment from Syria into Lebanon.
Standing alongside visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel’s policy is not to discuss what others claimed it did. He says “we do all that is needed to protect the security of Israeli citizens.”
Lebanon’s state news agency reported that Israeli aircraft carried out two airstrikes late Monday near the Lebanese-Syrian border.
Israel has refrained from taking sides in the Syrian civil war but has carried out several airstrikes on suspected shipments of advanced missiles believed headed for Hezbollah guerrillas. Netanyahu has vowed to prevent such arms transfers.
iran did it.
Yeah. I skipped reading the article, and came directly to comments simply because it was DEBKA.
Most often a waste of limited time available for reading legitimate articles.
They are, it's a good idea.
Debka, so, y’know.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
I’d say to Israel, stay out of it. Assad’s opponents if in power will be worse for Israel than Assad.
Id say to Israel, stay out of it. Assads opponents if in power will be worse for Israel than Assad.
AGREED, but I think Israel’s priority is to prevent the more sophisticated weaponry from being transferred to Hezbollah.
Israel has been, but they’ve drawn a line, not Obama’s (I guess it’s America’s) type of line. They won’t allow certain types of advanced arms, largely NBC or anti aircraft, anywhere near Hizbollah, aka Lebanon
