Is this really a good time to cut back our military? : Sending the wrong message to our enemies

According to news reports, the US military will be cut dramatically:

"Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has proposed shrinking the Army to its smallest size in 74 years through a series of base closures and troops cuts, and by completely eliminating several Air Force aircraft fleets.

The move comes as the U.S. Army moves into the final phases of a massive troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, and Congress raises new red flags about American deficit spending.

Hagel surprised some observers on Monday when he outlined a global military philosophy that removed America from the center of its universe.

I oppose these cuts because they will confirm that the US is in retreat.

This is the wrong message when we have China rising and sending its warships around.

That’s the problem. Cutting back on the military is sending the world EXACTLY the message that Obama wants to send.

Of course it’s the wrong thing to do; why else would 0bama do it? Other than giving the go ahead to get osama, 0bama has done exactly the opposite of what the right thing to do is/was.

It is a really good time to reconsider our endless commitments abroad and foreign entanglements that do nothing to enhance the security of the United States.

In general, I don’t believe that an unlimited budget to defense is a good idea. However, what we have here is defense cuts for reasons that are ideological as opposed to practical or tactical. The money that would have been spent on defense will now be spent on buying votes through welfare transfers instead of being returned to the taxpayers.

A champagne lifestyle on a lemonade income has never been a conservative moral value, hasn’t it?
Whatever cut may be on the table, the U.S. defense budget will remain far greater than the China’s.

You've forgotten the national debt.

The curse of the Americal Division continues.

First it was LT William Calley and now it’s SP4 Chuck Hagel.

That’s the message the Progressives/LibTurds/Pacifist/PoloiRats have sent that ultimately got us involved in every war since Civil War.

Looks to me like the traitors in DC are setting the table for the muslims and commies to take territory and lives without a challenge from a strong US military.

Part of their Cloward-Piven plan to kill a giant with a thousand cuts.

Ratchet up unemployment, which gives them reasons to ratchet up even more spending on social programs, which gives them reasons to cut "unnecessary" spending on things like national defense.

One can tell the giant is close to bleeding out when even the Post Office gets a big ammo budget while the military loses theirs.

Israel should buy all the A10s and offer jobs to the fliers.
All those displaced soldiers will be useful come next election time for the Conservatives and in case Obama tries anything stupid.

Obama cannot cut anything. The House makes the cuts as they set the budgets. That’s the eGOP.

A weakened readiness posture is the exact goal of this administration. So long as Obama sits atop the throne, our military is no longer to be used for any objective except to assist muslim terrorists or to shore up the regimes supporting them.
