Governors Malloy, Jindal have war of words after presidential meeting

A war of words between the governors of Connecticut and Louisiana continued Tuesday, a day after a heated exchange in Washington over raising minimum wage.

Governors Dannel Malloy and possible candidate for president Bobby Jindal were supposed to be attending a bipartisan meeting with President Barack Obama.

However, Jindal, a Republican, gave his opinion of the meeting to reporters on the White House lawn.

"This president and the White House seems to be waving the white flag of surrender," Jindal said.

Malloy responded, "Until a few moments ago we were going down a pretty cooperative road," he said. "I don't know what the heck was a reference a white flag when it comes to people making $404 a week. That's the most insane statement I've ever heard."

Malloy continue to jab at Jindal on Twitter on Tuesday.

"When it comes to lifting people out of poverty, there should be no disagreement," Malloy tweeted at Jindal. He followed the post with "#RaiseTheWage = fewer people in poverty."

Hay Dannel, the best way to get people out of poverty is creating jobs. You have done everything in your power to drive them out of CT.

People have to work themselves out of poverty, lifting only allows them to sit longer.

Governor Malloy, you can’t pull yourself up off the ground by standing in a bucket and pulling up on the handle.

Grabbing guns is CT’s new stimulus. A pox on that state.

Exactly right. The government is completely incapable of legislating poverty away. The only thing they are able to do is depress the potential opportunities for job creation.

War of words or Battle of wits? In either case, Jindal probably should be charged with assault on an unarmed man.

At least from the clips, I have seen.
hehehe

[The government is completely incapable of legislating poverty away.]

Over the years the definition of poverty has changed. When I went to school there were children who were dressed in rags, went barefoot and suffered from a variety ailments—some causing permanent damage—associated with malnutrition. We classified them as “poor.” Today, if we applied the same markers poverty would be largely eliminated, at least by definition.

Well, Dannel, if you think the way to prosperity is raising the minimum wage to $10/hour, go for it. Nobody’s stopping you. Heck, raise to $100/hour. Or make it a million. What’s the difference?

You will have a state of millionaires.

... a day after a heated exchange in Washington over raising minimum wage.

Sadly, Gov. Jindal evidently doesn't know the federal government's constitutionally limited powers well enough to argue the following.

As mentioned in related posts, with the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution's Clauses 16 & 17 of Section 8 of Article I as examples, entities under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate a national minimum wage, the states uniquely having the 10th Amendment power to regulate intrastate minimum wage.

What's going on with so-called national minimum wage is the following imo. As a consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, for decades corrupt federal lawmakers have been getting away with taking advantage of low-information voters who don't understand these constitutionally limited powers, winning their votes by promising higher and higher constitutionally indefensible federal minimum wage.

Jindal got off a couple of solid jabs and Malloy jumped in and whined about Jindal being mean. No contest.

No use trying to reason with liberals. They don’t have anything that could be called a mind.

It’s a documented fact that raising the minimum wage hurts employment opportunities.

So why did only a single Republican governor, Bobby Jindal, have the courage to speak out against raising the federal minimum wage when EVERY Republican governor’s unemployed constituents will be negatively affected if the wage increase is passed?

Bobby Jindal for President. A Gulliver among the Lilleputians.

You seem to know the law. Why don’t you run for a seat on the county board? Or volunteer for the planning council at the village level. We need patriots on every level of government. Clean out the fascists and communists in your neighborhood, making it safe again for children and dogs.
