Right rushes to hit McConnell (good ad!)

Two conservative groups are rushing to the rescue of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) primary challenger, Matt Bevin.

The groups are hitting McConnell with two new ads, one on the radio and one online, that touch on a range of issues toxic to the right.

The radio ad, from the Senate Conservatives Fund, criticizes McConnell's procedural vote to move a debt ceiling hike forward, and his work with Vice President Biden on the "fiscal cliff" deal that included a tax hike on higher income households. The Madison Project's nearly two-minute online ad juxtaposes clips of McConnell talking about fiscal responsibility and government spending on the Senate floor and at press conferences with on-screen text outlining his votes to raise the debt limit.

Both groups have endorsed Bevin.

The support from the right comes as Bevin has endured a rough couple of weeks in the race.

Questions over a report praising the financial bailout that he signed while president of an investment fund have dogged Bevin for most of February, bringing him negative coverage on conservative news sites and fueling attacks from McConnell’s campaign that Bevin has exhibited at best hypocrisy and at worst a “history of deceptions.”

Bevin has attacked McConnell for supporting, and helping to pass, the bailout — and the report seems to undermine that attack.

Bevin’s explanation for the report, which shifted multiple times, was widely panned, and two surveys out over the past month have shown him struggling to gain traction against McConnell, and underwater in terms of his popularity.

But the two conservative groups are pledging to stay by him and are now working to refocus the race on McConnell.

Matt Bevin has been right all along.

Matt Bevin signed an SEC required certification in a N-CSR document filing certifying to

(1) the correctness of the “periodic report” in the document and

(2) the information regarding the financial condition and results of operations in the document.

IMPORTANTLY, forward-looking statements, economic analysis including commentary of current events and government legislation passed or in process — none of that pertains to the certification points (1) and (2) above.

That means his investment advisors who are considered disinterested Trustees by the SEC can say whatever they to say, write whatever opinion they have in an advisement letter, and Bevin will certify that the ACCOUNTING NUMBERS and RESULTS OF OPERATIONS are correct. He is correct in saying it could be illegal for him to get an investment advisor to change his opinion about any legislation, TARP included.

The entire ordeal has been a GOPe smear and hit on Bevin.

“The entire ordeal has been a GOPe smear and hit on Bevin.”

I hope the people of Kentucky recognize it as such!

Kerry was for Iraq before he was against it.

McConnell was for a higher debt ceiling before he was against it.

Mitch “Debt Man” McConnell is running ads that suggest that a private citizen’s support of a bailout is far worse than an elected official’s actual vote for a bailout. Bevin did not support bailouts or debt ceiling hikes but McConnell did and also voted for them. You tell me which candidate is worse.

It was not JUST the vote on the debt ceiling, but his agreement with Reid that they would let it move forward knowing it would pass by democrats, which would allow them to SAY they all voted against it.

So in other words McConnel’s PLANNED hypocracy is the real problem.

Cruz FORCED them to go to a procedural vote to advance it for the main vote, thereby forcing McConnell to viote for cloture.

I bet he is FURIOUS at Cruz (and I hope he is- mad angry people do stupid things)

What Bevin did was as a PRIVATE CITIZEN for the good of a private company. That is what you are supposed to do in business.

But McConnell has 30 years of governemnt- just about the length of time when things really started going into the crapper- and HE WAS THERE the whole time.

So what makes anyone think giving him 6 MORE YEARS will help?

Great ad. McConnell needs to go!!

Be careful of what you wish for, McConnell is (just barely) behind Grimes while Bevin is nowhere to be seen.

Grimes handily defeated her Republican opponent in the Attorney General race.

Not a fan of McConnell but we need that seat top to get back control of the senate...

Judt saying....

Yeah, O Chinless One, Bevin’s signing a corporate report lauding the bailout is certainly more offensive than your 30 years of cutting conservatives off at the knees, huh?
