Portland Declines Nomination to Compete to Host 2016 Democratic National Convention (Oregon)

It turns out Portland could be more blue. Mayor Charlie Hales' office has declined an offer from the Democratic National Committee to compete to host the party's 2016 national convention.
The DNC placed Portland among about 30 cities tapped as possible hosts for the Presidential nominating convention, according to CNN. But Hales' office turned the offer down.

Yes, I thought Charlotte had lost money on the convention. The prestige of hosting a political convention, and the costs involved, just aren’t worth it to some cities.
I bet the DNC is shocked that their invitation to bid for the convention was flatly turned down.

There are lots of heavily-Democratic cities that would make good host sites: East St. Louis, Detroit, Memphis....
