The Ted Cruz Effect: Political Gold?
Star Telegram ^ | 25 Feb 2014 | ANNA M. TINSLEY

Ted Cruz is not on the March 4 primary ballot.

But his likeness is all over TV and in campaign materials, as a slew of Republican candidates on the primary ballot are using his words and — in rare occasions — his endorsement to reach out to voters.

This year, having Cruz weigh in any way possible “is political gold,” said Mark P. Jones, a political science professor at Rice University in Houston.

His thumbs up for a candidate serves “as a signal to Cruz’s plethora of supporters within the GOP primary electorate who the ‘true’ movement conservative in the race is,” he said.

And that has made a number of candidates try to link themselves to the state’s junior senator any way possible.

Cruz skyrocketed to national attention in 2012 after defeating Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in a battle for U.S. Senate that turned into a classic Tea Party versus establishment Republican, David versus Goliath fight.

He has remained in headlines for constantly criticizing the Obama administration and the healthcare law.

“Because of his activity in the Senate, and how he has been so vocal, a lot of people are happy with him about that,” said Jen Hall, who heads the Tarrant County Republican Party. “There are a chunk of the voters who probably will pay attention” to his support of a candidate.

“Whether or not is swings a race to put someone over the top remains to be seen.”

Democrats caution Republicans about jumping onto the Ted Cruz bandwagon.

“When you start appealing to a very small part of Texas’ population — the Republican primary voter — it’s going to affect the general election,” said Manny Garcia, a spokesman for the Texas Democratic Party. “Some of these positions he’s expressed would be a concern to every day Texans.

Cruz stands out, a true citizen legislator. He works for the people, not for Washington. We need more like him.

Unfortunately some crusty trolls on FR are still backing Rob Portman and the RINO class. Hopefully, they’ll go back to DU.

The three justices he is endorsing are tied to the Tort Reform wave that is heavily pushed and touted by Texans for Lawsuit Reform. These guys are Richard Weekley (Weekley Homes), Bob Perry (Perry Homes-now deceased), Linbeck (Linbeck Construction) they are good at killing enforcement bills in the state lege. The trial lawyers have pretty much been neutered in the state having left or retooled. The reforms have left med malpractice to a few clearcut cases of well-to-do litigants, forced settlements, cap of 250k on damages, among many other things. The tort reform they got passed over the years has been a good way to immunize their home-building cheap labor interests from litigation and the Chinese drywall issue..they left an array of working Texans with no legal recourse. If I had to pick from the two camps here in terms of damage to the community I would take the trial lawyers.

Democrats caution Republicans about jumping onto the Ted Cruz bandwagon.

It's so wonderful to learn, again and again, that some Dims are so concerned about Republican electoral success that they offer generous and sage advice free of charge, and without even being asked.

And I'm sure Chucky Schumer will have more words of widsom for Repubicans any day now.

RINOS ARE THE OBAMA TROJAN HORSE TROOPS PARTY

The “RINOs” are really just Trojan Horse troops sent in by Obama.
They do as they are told to avoid Left Stream Media jeers.
John “The Doormat” Boehner has his paranoid fears:
Obama and the Left Stream Media Journalists will drive him to tears.

And then there is “Capitulation” Cantor,
With a soft Virginia Drawl,
Who wears patches on his knees
From his frequent Cave-In crawls.

Don’t forget “No Resistance” Ryan,
Appeasement is his long suit.
No wonder “Romneycare” Romney
Was such a big Ryan fan.

Obama’s Trojan Horse is now filled with House RINOs,
All promising that in 2014 they will ALL be silent.
The Republican’s RINO Rove, and “Wacko Birds” McCain,
Act as the Loyal Rear Guard for the Obama Trojan Horse.

What have we here? So say the skeptical.
Forward, ever FORWARD rolls the Obama Trojan Horse,
Crushing the Constitution, all Checks and Balances, and all who complain,
While the RINOs in Obama’s Trojan Horse stay always silent. and do not complain.

Did Obama capture the House RINOs inside his Trojan Horse?
Or did the Loyal RINOs stampede on to get there first?
The “What” and the “Why” are just idle chatter,
The RINO Five Years of failure, is what the to voter matters.

With only two plus years left to Impeach Obama,
Can the Trojan Horse House RINOs be trusted,
What the Constitution requires elected Stewards to do?
Or will re-elected House RINOs just continue the destructive Obama trauma?

I am running for the Senate. Anybody that can talk and talk about conservative ideals and not accomplish a thing and get the praise and adoration from the masses must be a great gig. Seriously, I am a pretty good speaker and conservative like most here. I think that I am 100 percent qualified for the job. I can go around spouting platitudes and give speeches about conservative values and have a wonderful 6 years and after that people will beg me to run for President…..man what a life I would have. I am signing up. 2014 NAPSCOORDINATOR is running for Senate.
