Pat asks: Suppose we repealed the civil rights laws and fired all the bureaucrats enforcing these laws?

I still have a Pat Buchanan yard sign from his Presidential bid.

It may come out of retirement.

Does anyone really believe if Civil Rights laws were repealed we'd go back to black and white drinking fountains? Blacks riding in the back of the bus? Separate entrances areas for blacks?

He’s right and it has nothing to do with racism.

If a business doesn’t want to serve someone because of their race, another business will open that will serve exclusively that race. And likely a 3rd business will open that serves all who enter and put both racists out of business.

Buchanan thinks Christian shouldn’t have any legal protection.

Unfortunately, this would raise claims that it would “encourage racial discrimination” ...
see for instance,
Reitman v. Mulkey 387 US 369 (1967) where the USSCt upheld the California state Supreme Court’s overturning of a voter referendum repealing the California legislature’s Rumford Fair Housing Law (Yes, another 5-4 vote but it is there).

Not saying it shouldn’t or can’t be done.
Only saying anyone trying this needs to be well prepared (legally) to deal with just how it may be done (and how it may best be defended against challenge).

It is the only thing they know how to do. They are not productive or constructive. They have no other skills that would allow them to earn a living.

The section ruling on private industry was flatly unconstitutional. The Act had these elements added by Emmanuel Celler (D - N.Y.) after hearings during the negotiation. Republicans, though they were widely in support of the Act should have demanded this be taken out. It was blatantly an expansion of government illegaly into the private sphere, and short-sighted people that they were, they never imagined how the libs would abuse it.

“Religious freedom,” said Daniel Mach of the ACLU to the Times, is “not a blank check to … impose our faith on our neighbors.”

Tolerance for me and not for thee is the secular leftist's creed.

I agree. Not only are they infringes on personal liberty but they are arbitrarily enforced. “Affirmative action” and “diversity” = racism against whites and sexism against males.

So get rid of the whole lot . . . throw out birthright citizenship too.

Sorry I said anything nice about ya, Pat. Modify the parts that are wrong but I can’t see going back 60 years. You must have more faith in human nature than I do.

And buying up our ammo.

Bravo. I’ve been saying this for years. The Fed have proven themselves incapable of objectively enforcing the “civil rights laws’. They are purely an arm of the Democrat Party. The first to go, has to be the sexual harassment laws, and then the civil rights laws. Return this to the States and the People. The Feds ought to have little tonothing to do with individual Americans and getting involved with all this crap has proven to be a disaster once Jim Crow was overthrown.

We would lose 20% of the entire government workforce if we did this
