UPDATED VIDEO: Former President Bill Clinton said Kentucky voters will be better off with Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes than a senator whose main message might be good for a campaign but is a dumb way to run a country.
A crowd of around 1,200 gathered at the Galt House in Louisville Tuesday to hear the former president make the case for Grimes in Clintons first campaign stop of 2014.
In his speech, Clinton focused on Kentuckys decision to go through with the health benefits exchange as part of the Affordable Care Act. Clinton praised Gov. Steve Beshear for his decision and compared it to the one facing Kentucky voters.
Clinton said Grimes wants to fix the law, not sit by and pout. And he added that McConnells opposition to the law makes for a good campaign, but it is a dumb way to run a country.
Clinton also pointed to the difference in stance on the issue of the minimum wage, saying McConnells hateful TV ads wont put people to work. He also used the issue as part of his message that Grimes wants to help Kentuckians through the position of U.S. senator and not contribute to stalemate in Washington.
Grimes focused her speech on the message of McConnell being at the center of the dysfunction and gridlock in Washington, D.C., saying that McConnell has never looked out for anyone but himself during his tenure in office.
We need someone in office who looks out for us the way we look out for each other, the way President Clinton did for us when he was in office, Grimes said.
Other speakers, including Gov. Steve Beshear and Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, stressed the excitement behind the Grimes campaign and the importance of the race.
This Senate race is the most important race in the history of the Commonwealth Yarmuth said. We have all the energy on our side, people who might vote for Mitch are not really excited about that.
The Grimes campaign confirmed that $604,000 was raised at the event.
How low this country has sunk that 1,200 people would line up to listen to a serial rapist. Might as well have been Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, or Jeffrey Dahmer; no difference.
Mitch has gone well past his “Best By” Date.
Can I ask a stupid question?
Clinton is saying that this Democrat, if elected to the Senate, would help fix Obamacare.
My stupid question is, why do Democrats want to fix it? What needs fixing? Democrats forced this thing down our throats. Didn’t they do it right the first time? And if it needs fixing, and Democrats are the ones who foisted Obamacare on us, why are we supposed to elect more Democrats to fix it, when they were the ones who screwed it up in the first place???
Is Clintoon schtuping Grimes?
she certainly looked clingy, and infatuated with Billy in the news clips I saw should Hillary be concerned???
U B da Judge.
Ky had better vote McConnell out in the primary.

Stumping on behalf of Allison Lundergan Grimes Clinton took to the stage a little later than his scheduled 11:30 slot. He wowed the crowd after hearing songs from a group of young girls singing songs about you guessed it Girl Power. There were thirteen of these teen girls on stage singing. They were followed by Kentucky’s first female Governor the easily forgettable Martha Layne Collins I had to pause a minute to remember her name. Former President recalled knowing Allison Lundergan Grimes since she was a young girl blossoming into her teen years. She must be proud of herself bringing the Philanderer in chief to Ky She says Clinton is a friend a mentor and an advisor. Her parents obviously failed badly in raising her. In other Louisville area news today thirteen teenage girls filed police reports this afternoon alleging that they were fondled by a filthy decrepit looking old pervert somewhere in the downtown area today. So far Police have no clues or suspects and refuse to comment on the situation.
