Yes! I’m Running for Office! Vote Jackson! [Ex-Saturday Night Live Star]
VictoriaJackson.com ^ | 2/3/14 | Victoria Jackson

Posted on 02/26/2014 1:03:40 PM PST by SoFloFreeper

I “pulled papers” for the Williamson County Commissioner position. District 2. This is my first time running for office. I want to be an example to other moms, and regular folk to get involved in their local government. It’s the only way we will save America...

I have just become an “empty nester” so I have time in between acting jobs to get involved. (I’m doing stand up comedy with Joe Piscopo and Father Guido Sarducci Feb. 21 and shooting a movie in Louisiana in May.) I was recently at the TN Capital supporting House Bill 1129 which would require schools to teach The Constitution, the Declaration, our founding documents, and Americans whose achievements have helped the world. Yes, it’s shocking that our schools are not teaching this anymore.

I’m against Common Core which was bribed into existence. States took federal money in exchange for promising to implement a program which they had not seen, had not voted on, and that had never been tried. Common Core 1) dumbs down students 2) gathers a data base full of personal information on the parents which could be used against “political dissidents” 3) Common Core textbooks contain pro-socialist, pro-communist, pro-Islamic, and pro-racist propaganda, and sexually explicit and inappropriate content, i.e. how to masturbate. (See article here.) This is unacceptable. Common Core is the beginning of federal control over our children. Go to ParentalRights.org and StopCommonCore.com.

I’m against Agenda 21, which is being implemented already at the local level, in offices like Main St. Franklin where “Franklin Tomorrow” pushes “innocent” policies like bike paths and walking trails, perhaps unaware of the United Nations plot to separate American citizens from their private property, eliminate suburbs, and concentrate people groups into cities, forcing mass transit, eliminating cars under the false-science guise of “human caused” global warming/climate change. Go to Agenda21today.com for info.

America is in a spiritual battle and I’m on the right side. Ephesians 6:12

I don’t believe in career politicians, but in concerned citizens with convictions fighting to retain our God-given freedoms.

Our Freedom of Speech is under attack. At the Manchester Muslim Community Outreach Event last year, State Attorney Bill Killian announced to a group of 1,000 that American citizens could be federally prosecuted for saying disparaging remarks against Islam. This is not Freedom of Speech. This is the beginning of the implementation of Shariah Law.

I do not support the building of Islamic Centers in the area. They are ultimately terrorist training camps. “Moderate” Muslims pay a “tithe” called a zakat, that supports jihad, and all the groups like MSA, CAIR, etc. are front groups for the Muslim Brotherhood. Go to UnderstandingTheThreat.com. Go here to see Senate and House agreeing we are less safe from jihad now. Go to Act For America to get involved.

Our Freedom of Religion is under attack. Pastors who preach the Bible, are being accused of “hate speech” if they agree with God’s view of homosexuality.

I support fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, and the Constitution. I’m for less taxes, less regulation, less government. I support small business. I want to keep District 2 rural. I think nature is important. But, something needs to be done about the traffic jam on Main Street/Columbia Pike.

I moved to TN to follow my children and grandchild; my son-in-law is a pastor, my daughter is writer, and my college daughter attends a local university. Nashville has my two favorite things; Jesus, and show business! My husband retires this year from the Metro Dade Police Dept. of Miami, FL where he was S.W.A.T. and a police helicopter pilot for 35 years. We have family here in Brentwood; I attended Auburn and my husband and I attended Furman University in Greenville. We love the area, the beauty, the rolling hills, the seasons and the kind, good hearted people. Thank you for welcoming us into your community. We finally feel at home.

Saw her stand up routine a couple years back. She was doing handstands and other gym moves on the stage. She was funny too.

Victoria Jackson spoofs Meghan McCain ...

Love her to death for this priceless skit. (The interviewer (and raised eyebrow technique) is priceless himself!)

Advice for her and for anyone else planning to run for office.

First and foremost, figure out why you're running. What is it you're for? Be able to state that in succinct and simple form. Then stick with your message. Don't let anyone sidetrack you.

Get and understand the rules and regulations. Copies should be available at your election board.

Get a campaign treasurer who can keep books (need not be a professional accountant, but must be able to do bookkeeping). Nothing can mess you up worse than violating campaign finance laws.

If your party, or anyone else, runs a campaign school, sign up for it. They're usually one day, and cover the basics.

Set up your campaign organization early. The good people will be grabbed by other candidates if you wait too long.

Make sure you have enough petition signatures, with a comfortable margin for those disallowed.

Get the backing of your Party's Central Committee. They may even give you some money. Note, however, when I was on the Central Committee our policy was not to endorse a candidate in a contested primary. Yours may have a similar policy.

Establish a campaign budget adequate to cover yard signs, bumper stickers, newspaper advertising, and a web site. Set goals for fundraising. Put someone in charge of fundraising (not your treasurer).

Have someone in charge of distributing yard signs throughout your district. Be sure to observe laws and ordinances regarding placement of signs. Look for high-traffic locations for sign placement.

Plan for a presence at fairs, flea markets, farmers markets, etc. If your Party has a booth at an event, be sure you're represented there.

Shortly before the election, organize a door-to-door campaign flyer blitz.

Get people to write letters to the editor supporting your campaign. These are free supplements to the ads you'll buy in the local paper.

Take part in candidate nights, debates, and opportunities to speak at service clubs and other organizations.

Some very good points. Thanks Joe. A bunch of FReepers running for office sounds like a good formula for getting this country back on the right track.

I saw her at a comedy club here in Columbia years ago and she was good there.

Joe Piscopo and Fr. Guido are names I haven’t heard in a long time.

“I hope she gets elected and does a great job.”

A lovely lady in heart, soul and mind. Conservatives need to get involved in local politics and drive the fascists and commies out of their towns and counties. And for those who say they are too busy making money, I guarantee you that these leftists have plans to steal your property and your financial nest eggs. Get involved now or lose it all.

I might also suggest buying a good pair of comfortable shoes and spend a couple of nights a week walking house to house meeting folks, talking with them about their local concerns.
