So far in 2014, initial unemployment claims have been largely stuck, though we were supposed to see some progress this morning. According to the new figures from the Labor Department, we didn’t:

The number of people who applied for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped by 14,000 to 348,000 last week to match a five-week high, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch expected claims to total 335,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis. The average of new claims over the past month, a more reliable gauge than the volatile weekly number, was unchanged at 338,250.

Honestly! Why do they continue to use the word “unexpectedly” every month? Do they really think we are surprised by any of this?

“Unexpectedly. Again.”

It’s not very funny at all, but somehow, it never gets old, either.

There are a LOT of people who don’t find it “unexpected” - what it means is, that the government is finding it increasingly difficult to hide the obvious.

There is only one class of people who claim to be surprised by this kind of news.

And I'm beginning to think they're lying.

Let me guess the rest of the story...the increase in unemployment is due to, the bad weather, George W. Bush, the Republicans in congress, the Koch brother's or the tea party. But Obama’s economic policy bears zero responsibility....

“DRINK”

If you play the drinking game on this, you would be on the floor within 20 minutes of reading mainstream news sites this morning. The frequency of the word is not coincidental, IMO.

Unexpectedly???

Unexpected by whom?

Clearly there are those who simply have NOT been paying attention for the past five years.
