If you do not feel the oppression of Christians in the US, you must live in a very fortunate part of the US. The veto of the bill in Az. takes away the rights of Christians everywhere to chose who they associate with and do business with. I know it only applies in Az. but it will spread across the nation.

The oppression of Christian views and who they are forced to associate with has been going on for a long time. In certain churches the Word of God has been twisted so much as to be unrecognizable. If one is not watching and listening very closely it is hard to pick up on and if one does not know the Bible well, much can become easily bastardized. I have seen it in action and have noticed that the ones spreading this are well intentioned but ignorant of what they are doing. I will say it out loud, it is mostly women and some former men.

I hope your area remains untouched and unpolluted by these ignorant useful idiots.

Russia’s economy depends on the oil trade which Putin has nationalized. Russians don’t benefit from Putin’s control of the gas and oil industries, he and his corrupt gangster cronies do.

Thank goodness none of that happens here.

Link to a related article by VDH on another thread you posted today ... Ukraine and Our Useless Outrage

Very relevant to compare and contrast the empty threats and horrible results around the globe of the 0bama 'foreign policy' versus the words of Senator Cruz.

As a Christian, I do not feel oppressed in the USA.

Me neither. BTW, what are we frogs doing in this pot, and is it getting warmer in here?

I am glad the USA has not nationalized oil companies the way the kleptocrat Putin has done to Russia. The idea that we would be looking out for our own interests if our leaders were more like Vladimir Putin is pretty laughable. The bastard from Kenya only dreams of getting away with what Putin has.

I don't feel oppressed as a Christian in the US today either…but….but…

I feel like some are oppressed….by way of home schooling laws in some parts of the country and by business law in some parts of the country. I also feel like we are much closer to being oppressed than we were say 5-10 years ago.

We are also forced to fund a lot of things we hate, like big education's Godless anti American agenda, especially in colleges, and so on. That's not oppression per se, but it's on the road…..

...and I think he is bound and determined to do as much as he can to expand Russia’s sphere of influence and attempt to reassemble the old Soviet Union.

Meanwhile Team Soetoro is bound and determined to do as much as they can to contract America's sphere of influence and disassemble our Constitutionally based republic.

KGB trumps Community Organizer all day long.

I can certainly agree with the things you listed-—and we need to do all in our power to STOP IT NOW!

However, I don’t see anyway but the ballot box to change it—and then I start thinking about our dumbed down education system in this country today-—and yes, it is depressing……...

Really? Russia's economy is growing at an average of 7% per year.

So we should copy their communism ways?

It’s very important we do at the ballot box all we can do to stop it. Important we pray also. Those may not stop it.

Thus, other alternatives are going off grid invidually, moving to a more liberty minded state individually…or another nation - etc. Obviously different folks have different options, but there are indeed oppressive winds a blowin…..and most will not admit it til it’s too late for them.

Most on here DON'T think he's a 'great leader'. He's a KGB Marxist. A thug.

Maybe they are not a majority, but there is an alarming number of people on FR who absolutely swoon over Putin & get weak-kneed every time they see their favorite dictator with his shirt off (which is quite often).

I view Putin very much in the mould of Vito Corleone; he’s analogous to a Mafia Don, a “Godfather” if you will. His office just happens to be in the Kremlin, instead of Palermo, or Queens.

Everyone who wants to be anyone in Russia has to let Don Vladimir “wet his beak” a little. It’s basically a kleptocracy. And like a good Don (the fictional Vito or Michael Corleone) he knows on how to put on a good show; the mask of the devout, church-going man, caring, always ever-so-reasonable.

For those of you can who recall the legendary “baptism massacre” at the end of the original “Godfather” - oh yeah, I could totally see Putin doing something like that.

Without a doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Most intelligent comment yet. Pinochet was a thug, but damn was he good for Chile. I don’t think anyone swoons over Putin, but they respect that he’s an effective leader (look at what we have!) And admire his stand on certain issues. That being said, there is a lot of room for criticism. There are leaders like this around the world.

Putin seems to be a patriot and dedicated to doing everything in his power to make Russia the most powerful and influential country in the world.

Since Russians call their home 'the Motherland', wouldn't Putin be more accurately described as a Matriot? :)
