Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday didn't rule out involvement in GOP primaries this year against incumbent Republican senators.
Cruz said he had made no "ironclad promise" to stay out of the primaries.
"What I have said is that I'm likely going to stay out of incumbent Republican primaries," he said. "I haven't put that in concrete."
A fundraising email Cruz wrote for the Madison Project emerged this week. The group has backed Republican candidates running against Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (Kan.). Cruz had told other Republican senators that he wouldn't help outside groups targeting his opponents, and he said the email for the Madison Project had been written last April, before the conversation had taken place.
But Cruz, who irritated his colleagues earlier this month with a filibuster on legislation to raise the debt ceiling, said nothing is certain.
"Things can change in politics," he said.
He also criticized the National Republican Senatorial Committee for its involvement in GOP primaries. Cruz is the vice chairman of the NRSC, though he has often worked at cross-purposes with the group.
"I disagree with what the NRSC has done there," he said. "When I took on the role leadership had told me that they'd learned the lessons from 2010 to stay out of primaries."
Cruz disagreed that he was causing problems for other GOP senators — and blamed leadership.
"I don't want to throw any Republicans under the bus," he said, criticizing McConnell and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) for whipping Republicans to vote for the procedural motion to get to a final vote on the debt ceiling bill. "To be clear, it was Republican leadership that was looking to throw Republicans under the bus."

This kind of article has the GOPelites shaking in their boots. They will be trying to conjure up more ways to try to discredit Cruz in the coming months.
You know, if I was one of Cass Sunstein's internet trolls, I would come up with an unsuspecting handle that impeded scrutiny by including "old" "army" and "guy" in it.

The totals are a little ahead of the 2010 primary
for the same number of days.
That’s good news. Plus, in the larger areas like Harris, Ft Bend, Collin and Montgomery counties pubbies are at least 2x as Dims....if I’m reading this correctly.
Really? That surprises me.
Who knows but I don’t see any real items that jump out. Early voting has become
more acceptable and it’s been going on since 1988 when they made ‘in person early
absentee voting’. In 1993 it became early voting for all counties and it didn’t
have to be absentee. Over time I think they’ve got a handle on where to locate the
voting sites so as to provide access to the voters with a small number of sites.
interestingly, he did endorse in several Supreme Court races.
Cornball has to be a little worried...and in the context of Cruz’s endorsement of others, it sure does look like an in your face “non-endorsement”.
I’d corny gets knocked into a runoff.
I voted Stockman. But obviously in the runoff, it’s whoever the other guy is, over Cornyn.

3:1 Republican to Democrat in Tarrant County. Still horribly low turnout for both sides, 4.2% of registered voters so far.....
The early voting turnout can vary all over the map. Primaries are usually much lower
than the general and in presidential years can reach into the 40% range for early voting.
