Obama’s Interior Secretary to Dying Eskimos: “I’ve Listened to Your Stories, Now I Have to

In one of Alaska’s most remote outposts, where a thousand hardy souls make their homes, the Obama administration has put the fate of birds and bears above the lives of people, blocking construction of an 11-mile gravel trail connecting a tiny fishing hamlet to a life-saving airport.

King Cove has a clinic, but no hospital or doctor. Residents must fly 600 miles to Anchorage, via Cold Bay’s World War II airstrip, for most medical procedures including serious trauma cases and childbirth. Frequent gale-force winds and thick fog often delay or jeopardize medevac flights.

According to local Aleutian elders, 19 people have died since 1980 as a result of the impossible-to-navigate weather conditions during emergency evacuations.

U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Monday rejected a proposal for a one-lane gravel road linking the isolated community of King Cove with the all-weather airport in Cold Bay some 22 miles away.

During an August visit to Alaska, Jewell was told that building a road that connects King Cove and Cold Bay was vital. But in December, Jewell rejected the road saying it would jeopardize waterfowl in the refuge.

“She stood up in the gymnasium and told those kids, ‘I’ve listened to your stories, now I have to listen to the animals,” Democratic state Rep. Bob Herron told a local television station. “You could have heard a pin drop in that gymnasium.”

Mr. -resident: “Look, I’d love to help the Eskimos, but they just aren’t that large enough of a minority to worry about. Next question, yes Brian Williams, you were going to ask me about my disadvantaged mother again yes?”

I’m not sticking up for the bamster or his orcs, but IIRC King Cove has been trying to build this road for decades and has been denied by previous administrations, too.

Representative Bob Herron is being cited for ethics violations, dating back to when he was first elected to the Legislature in 2009.

The House ethics committee found that Herron knowingly withheld “sufficient detail” on his business ventures with another legislator – Senator Lyman Hoffman.

Herron and Hoffman both represent Western Alaska, and they co-own a school bus company in the Bethel area. Golden Eagle Unlimited has a $930,000 contract with the Lower Kuskokwim School District to transport students.

According to ethics law, any time a legislator has a contract with the state that’s worth more than $5,000, they have to report it. The school district is considered a unit of the state.

The ethics board ruled that Herron knowingly left the contract out of his financial disclosures. The Senate ethics committee made a similar ruling on Herron’s business partner, Senator Hoffman, in November.

The House ethics board spent the past year digging through Herron’s financial filings and conducting interviews. They found that Herron also failed to report the seats he held on the boards of corporations since he was elected. And the board dismissed two other complaints against him.

Herron was in Unalaska this week to attend a community event and hold a public listening session at his legislative office. He declined to comment on the ethics violations. But he did hand off a written statement to KUCB.

It read, “I have never knowingly filed a false, misleading or incomplete disclosure statement.”

It went on to say that Herron will comply with the corrective actions the committee laid out and follow the filing requirements. The House ethics committee isn’t going to fine Herron at this point. But the Alaska Public Offices Commission has levied a $7,500 penalty against Herron.

sally jewell was born a brit and she’s a twit.

There are no people in the owebama regime who give a rat’s arse about the plight of any human beings unless they are queer or mudslimes (but then I repeat myself).

Why don’t Alaska’s senators do something about this? Are you kidding? begich and murkowski? They are part of the problem, not part of the solution. Yet the Alaska Natives keep voting for these losers and their false promises. Plantation mentality.

You don’t know that! It’s for the children of the spotted grey lizard-hawk, that Eskimos must sacrifice their life. How dare they think they have a right to live there! They should just move to the closest city and start collecting welfare.

What do you have against the spotted grey lizard hawk anyway? Are you a greedy oil magnate? Everyone knows the gravel road is an evil plot by the Koch brothers to develop the land and kill off the spotted grey lizard hawk.

The Eskimos are liars, paid by Koch brothers!!!!

Might even be good for the animals. It isn’t exactly unheard of for animals to benefit from human activities.

That's the kind of civil disobedience this country needs right now.

I guess the animals voted for Obama, just like others - the dead, the illegals and the lazy - so I guess Eskimos got screwed.

This is what environmentalists are like. They are constitutionally incapable of empathy for human beings.

It's not that they are "constitutionally incapable of empathy for human beings". They are openly hostile to human beings.

The environmentalists give hundreds of million of dollars to the Democrat party every year, and this Democrat 'Interior Secretary' will do what ever the hell they tell her to do, and she could care less about the human toll of her decisions.

People don't matter. Money does.
