Simferopol, Ukraine (CNN) -- [Breaking News Update, 10:02 a.m. ET] (CNN) -- Russia's upper house of parliament voted Saturday to approve the use of military force in Ukraine. The vote was unanimous.

[Original Story, published 9:23 a.m. ET]

(CNN) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked the upper house of parliament for approval to send Russian troops into Ukraine's Crimea region to normalize the political situation there, the Kremlin said Saturday.

Due to the "extraordinary situation in Ukraine," Putin said, there are threats to the lives of Russian citizens and Russian military personnel based in the southern Crimean region.

It comes on the same day that the new pro-Russian leader of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, asked Putin for help in maintaining peace in the Black Sea peninsula -- where Russia has a major naval base at Sevastopol.

“You guys are such BS’ers. Criticize Obama without any concrete alternative for action.”

Clinton guaranteed Ukraine that if they gave up their Nuclear Weapons, the US and NATO would protect them from “Aggression”. Remember how the media hailed it breathlessly as “Peace in our time!!!”??

Putin wouldn’t even think about doing this, if he had any doubt at all that the US would do anything serious in response. That is the cost of having a weak and spineless American President, it emboldens the military adventures of others.

He KNOWS that all Obama will do is bluster a bit. Syria proved that absolutely. Hell, the White House is even calling this an “Uncontested arrival”, not an invasion.

Putin knows the gay-controlled U.S. media has become worse than Pravda, and will quickly bury the Ukraine story, since it makes Obama look bad.

Would you care to interpret it? I'm not familiar with the symbolism.

Those are the Olympic mascots..this is a nice piece of satire from Russians who do not approve of what is going on.

The overriding, important, pressing issue of the day is gay marriage.

I was just thinking the same thing. The issue of the day on both the domestic and foreign fronts is gay marriage. Do people realize that our foreign policy is actually being driven by gay sex? The whole 0bama Administration is in total disconnect with the priorities of not just Americans, but the world? Their biggest concern is 'sex' and doing stupid fitness commercials.

“The Americans are hypocrites - they helped to overthrow a foreign dictator and American lives aren’t even imperiled.

And in a country close to Russia, ethnic Russian and Russian-speaking Ukrainians lives are under real threat. And where does the West have the effrontery to tell Russia NOT to intervene to protect them?”

I have to admit that this was what I started thinking yesterday. We executed an overthrow of the Cuban communists in part to save American property and safeguard Americans living there, not to mention to protect our naval base that we still have.

This is turning into a bit more complicated situation than Putin merely invading a nation just to take it over.

From article on National Review:

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/372298/krauthammers-take-obama-tells-world-we-arent-going-do-anything-about-invasion-ukraine

As reports are coming in that Russia has placed 2,000 troops in Crimea, within the borders of Ukraine, President Obama said that “the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.”

Ok, the Russians have just approved the use of force in Ukraine. Now what?

McCain spent his last years in uniform as a Pentagon liaison officer with the Senate promoting projects that would make big money for defense contractors.

McCain’s desires to get this country involved in conflicts has the potential to make big money for defense contractors.

Eisenhower warned us about that “military-industrial” complex....

This week McCain was the champion of the Putin-hating LGBT lobby demanding a veto from Jan Brewer of the law to protect religious folks from LGBT harassment and intimidation.

This is the change in America’s world standing that Obama has delivered... When he speaks... Putin and other world leaders laugh. If Reagan or Bush were President, Putin wouldn’t even consider invading Crimea.

The true danger of having a lightweight as your President is clearer than ever and the Syrian crises wasn’t the first inkling of the danger and consequences of having a weak president. Even before that there was the very painful 6 month period when Obama had to eventually make a decision about troops in Afghanistan. And don’t ever mention the Keystone XL non-decision which has been dragging on for years and years.
