Boston ^ | 3/1/14 | Zimmerman

Posted on 03/01/2014 4:03:53 PM PST by mgist

The Boston Globe reported earlier today that Mayor Walsh and parade organizers have negotiated a deal that would allow for LGBT advocacy group MassEquality to march in the parade, however there are conditions attached. Marchers from the group would not be permitted to wear T-shirts or hold signs that include the word gay or refer to sexual orientation.

Raised Catholic in Bavaria, but later converted to the Episcopalian church after his marriage. His negative feelings towards the Irish were influenced by the mistreatment he received from them as an immigrant from Germany, to say nothing of the mass Irish immigrant support for Tammany Hall.

The parade is meaningless. A group is marching in the parade precisely because they practice sodomy.

Of course, pro-abortion Catholic politicians have been marching in St. Patrick’s Day parades for decades, often acting as Grand Marshall.

What did st Patrick have to do w lesbian rights recognition?

None, but as the Sodomites sought to force their way into just Lot's house, the demons that drive the homosexual activist work to force there way into every place they are excluded from, for thereby the devil can claim dominion, as he seeks God's throne, and to substitute his fabrications of what God created.

Well the good Ancient Order of Hibernians kept this from happening to the Fifth Avenue parade, in NY, so , where are the defenders in Boston, is what I wonder.

This is not Mississippi, and RCs and mainline Prots are overall in favor of gay marriage, and evangelicals are relatively very few.

If you like stats:

In 2003, all major religious groups opposed same-sex marriage, with the exception of the religiously unaffiliated. Today, there are major religious groups on both sides of the issue. Religiously unaffiliated Americans (73%), white mainline Protestants (62%), white Catholics (58%), and Hispanic Catholics (56%) all favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. A majority (83%) of Jewish Americans also favor legalizing same-sex marriage. Hispanic Protestants are divided; 46% favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to legally marry and 49% oppose. By contrast, nearly 7-in-10 (69%) white evangelical Protestants and nearly 6-in-10 (59%) black Protestants oppose same-sex marriage. Only 27% of white evangelical Protestants and 35% of black Protestants support same-sex marriage.

White evangelical Protestants make up 19% of the adult population today, down from 24% in 2003, and white mainline Protestants, who represent 14% of the adult popula- tion today, made up 21% of Americans in 2003. While the proportion of Catholics in America has remained largely steady during the last decade, there has been a sea change in the ethnic makeup of the Catholic population. In 2003, Catholics were 68% white and 22 % Hispanic; among Catholics in 2013, the percentage of Hispanics has grown to 34%, while the percent- age of whites has declined to 60%.

Democrats are most likely to say American culture and way of life is better now than it was in the 1950s, with nearly 6-in-10 (59%) in agreement; independents (42%), Republicans (31%), and members of the Tea Party (22%) are significantly less likely to say the same. - http://publicreligion.org/site/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/2014.LGBT_REPORT.pdf

You lose the argument at ‘58% of Catholics...’

As much as those would agree with you, Catholicism is by its foundation simply not a democratic organization given to mob rule and cultural mood

It’s founding, instructional document, states a very brief, certain, biblical rule on homosexuality.

If the entire catholic population and hierarchy disagreed with it, it would not change.

Adam and Eve disagreed with God and allowed the serpent in, and allowed
themselves to be swayed against the simple rule given to them, to not know good and evil, to not be the arbiters of what is right, but to leave that to God. And God didnt change his rule to suit their mob rule. They brought death and shame, through pride

This is no different.

58% means nothing more than that they are misguided.

They are free to go to some other church that goes along with their thinking, but they’ll still have a problem, they’ll be judged as Catholics, who, BTW, have access to the catechism so much more easily than they have access to just about any other information

Google: what does the catechism state about homosexuality. Ot what does the Catholic Church state...

It’s three paragraphs written for lay people

http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p3s2c2a6.htm

And then here’s something from Courage, the catholic spiritual support group

And it puts them at odds with St. Patrick. By their nature, saints followed the will of God, that includes following the order of the catechism, at least at and near the time of their death, at judgement time.

So this is scandalous

Actually, regardless of what the uninspired CCC states, there was no distinct class of believers called "saints," and this is used to refer to all saints. (Rm. 15:25; 2Cor. 1:1; 9:1 Eph 1:1; 2:19; 4:12; (Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:4)

Meanwhile the first universal Roman Catechism (also called, the Catechism of the Council of Trent ) was first published in 1566, and before Trent RC doctrine was much less standardized and more variegated. And which Catechism, was a result of the Reformation, as was the first infallible canon.

And some of what is usually told is as regards the works of this pious man is lacking substantiation, and other information can be rather sparse.

His own writings provide nothing that can be dated more precisely than the 5th century....The Irish annals for the fifth century are not contemporary documents,[11] but were compiled in the mid-6th century at the earliest...A variety of dates are given for his death.

Most modern scholars follow a variant of T. F. O'Rahilly's "Two Patricks" theory.[20] That is to say, many of the traditions later attached to Saint Patrick actually concerned Palladius, who Prosper of Aquitaine's Chronicle says was sent by Pope Celestine I as the first bishop to Irish Christians in 431.- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Patrick

Shaff also write of him: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff /hcc4.i.ii.ix.html

This is about St Patrick, a figure in the Catholic religion

If you don’t respect the catechism or the church, who caeres?

Just for example:

From the beginning of the catechism

103 For this reason, the Church has always venerated the Scriptures as she venerates the Lord’s Body. She never ceases to present to the faithful the bread of life, taken from the one table of God’s Word and Christ’s Body.66

Since i do not hold that it has either, beyond whatever Scriptural truth is teaches, then that is the question for you if you hold that it does.

Let's just get to the heart of the matter.

St. Patrick's Day only serves as an excuse to drink heavily on a workday. Here in Boston, even if March 17th is on a Saturday or Sunday, they will "observe" it the following Monday so that all the state workers can still get a day off to get deep in their cups.

Most of our holidays have lost their original meaning. Labor Day and Memorial Days are now seen as bookends for summer and days to cook on the grill or go to the beach. Most people don't even take five seconds on those days to honor our war dead or working people.

Independence Day is now called "4th of July" and is another day for grilling food - only you get fireworks too.

President's Day is a day for buying a new car. (By the way, even that day is a joke because it used to be two separate days to observe Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's Birthday).

Thanksgiving is a day to stuff yourself and watch football. Christmas is a day to exchange gifts, stuff yourself and watch football.

New Year's Day is a a day to nurse a hangover and eat leftover Chinese food from the night before. And watch football.

Easter and Halloween are for dentists. Allow your kids to consume mass quantities of candy and then make a dental appointment. Easter has the added bonus of an "easter egg" hunt and a re-run of Wizard of Oz at night.

Valentines Day is set aside for Hallmark and the restaurant industry. And dentists too.

Why don't we just simplify things and designate every fourth Monday as a "holiday" to do whatever you want. We don't have to burden ourselves with observing anything other than recreational activities for ourselves.

You are the one who brought it up as a standard for saints, before a universal one existed.

From the beginning of the catechism

Which is simply an assertion, and thus the question as to the basis for its authority. What is the basis for your assurance that Rome is the one true and infallible church?

The Health Risks of gay sex.

Genesis 13:13
Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and
their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men
from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them
."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Doonesbury Cartoon for Feb/08/2013

Isaiah 3:9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;
5. if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6. if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7. and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8. (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
9. if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
10. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
11. yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
12. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
13. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.
Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...
