Posted on 03/01/2014 4:30:59 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet
During the 2008 presidential campaign, GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made what has turned out to be a prescient remark about the relevance of a U.S. president's resolve and its potential impact on Russia's posture with the old Soviet Union's satellite states. She observed: "After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."
Many in the press ridiculed that notion. Among them was Blake Hounshell, who was then blogging at Foreign Policy Magazine. Characterizing Palin's notion as "strange," he wrote: "As we've said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario." Hounshell, now a deputy editor at Politico Magazine, has handled Palin's self-effacing Facebook "I told you so" ("I could see this one from Alaska") and pile-ons by center-right blogs too numerous to mention with tweets demonstrating the class, dignity, and good sportsmanship you would expect from the high-brow commentariat, i.e., none (HT Twitchy)...

I stopped reading Politico about 6 months before the 2012 elections and I hear others have at some point too.
They really started stretching to and joined in on the media GOP bashing.
Why be a Progressive? It’s gotta be hard to keep all the lies straight.
Sarah has made all the right enemies.

Good Job Sarah, I am proud of you.
Look it was a logcal call ...it was just adding US weakness and Russia natural tendencies and geopolitical interest..
I particularly liked the one comment...
If Putin invaded Miami Beach, Obama would draw the
red line at North Carolina.
Mature, adult, and prescient experienced reasoning makes a lib child’s head explode. Nice.
LOL That guy should be the managing editor for a classified ads circular.

Ha — I love it.
Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."
The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off .hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."
"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the Diva leak was Nicolle Wallaces husband."
“...demonstrating the class, dignity, and good sportsmanship you would expect from the high-brow commentariat...”
Because the left is all about good sportsmanship. Oh, and forbearance.
Who was president in 1994?
Democrats are gonna get us all killed on foreign policy.
Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
“Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
In all fairness, we don’t know that he’s a drunk.
There is no shame and no penalties for liberals
Talk about hilarious (or sick)! This idiot is lecturing Stephen Hayes over Obamas failure on Russia. Because everyone knows it’s not Obamas fault.

We really need to stop coddling White working class voters. You can’t vote for shitty RWNJs then be shocked at the things they do and say.
I dont know if it is necessarily that Palin has a particular insight to Americas foreign policy challenges or that she understands the typical Russian Strong man thought processes that Putin has displayed and how the weak posturing of Obama would encourage Putins empire rebuilding agenda.
Regardless of which way Palin thought about it, it should have been obvious to anyone but a pacifist Leftist ideologue what would happen without a strong response from the only world power that mattered at the time.
Given Obamas weak response to the invasion of Georgia all Putin would need is an excuse to invade the Ukraine. I give Putin credit he tried to pull in the Ukraine by less militaristic methods first but when the people of the Ukraine saw through his ploy and rose up against his would be puppet president he was ready to send in the troops as any strongman emperor wanna-be would do.
I saw it coming why didnt this so called Foreign Policy expert. (Because he didnt want to and he ideologically had to so he could ridicule Palin)

If some guy has the name of Blake, you have to ask yourself, “Does he walk or does he shashay?”
I’d like “V. Hussein Savage” to show me even one instance in world history where a mostly impoverished 12% minority conquered a much better-off 72% majority.
blake hounshell doesn’t fool me with his two-day “beard. He has a fat-slob neck. That said, he’s a ignorant political hack who has an inability to think clearly.
Fat, balding, chin-beard, lying, liberal extremist hate-filled liberal facist?
Yeppers - He’s got all of the “bear” traits that the homosexual community calls for.
