The Ukrainian Army is not going to fight the Russians.

The only “army” that wants to fight the Russians are the Western Ukrainian Bandera Nazis and they’re going to get their asses kicked back to Lviv.

The Ukrainian Navy already sided with the Russians. They just posted it.

This is what happens when the presidency becomes a celebrity contest and uninformed people vote on style instead of substance.

If Russia is allowed to take the Ukraine, Poles and Czechs should put all of their efforts into either getting ready to fight endlessly by themselves with no support from the West or to return to the past. There’s no support against communist/fascist expansionism from the most influential constituents behind the politicians here (as seen on the Internet discussion forums).

In his statement Obama warned Putin that there would be ‘costs’. But what he meant was that Putin/Russia would have to buy gasoline, diesel fuel, bullets, food for his troops, etc. You don’t invade a country for free.

Ukraine ordered its military to full combat alert after Russia's threat of military intervention in the country, but Kiev's new politicians didn't offer immediate countermoves to Moscow, amid reluctance by its Western supporters to stand with it militarily.

If Ukrainians are not prepared to fight for their territorial integrity, they shouldn't expect foreigners to do so. That it's taken this long for them to put their forces on high alert says either that they're expecting somebody else to do the fighting, or they needed some kind of casus belli to sway undecided troops within the Ukrainian military towards siding with the Parliament against the Russians. Either way, this isn't good for their cause.

I doubt the Tatar’s have much interest in getting in a losing fight, should one come. Putin is good buddies with Ramzan Kadyrov who is the Head of the Chechen Republic. By what i have read Kadyrov seems to be engaging in dialogue with the fellow Muslim Tatars, to smooze them over. I would expect any “uniformed” Russian troops “officially” moving into the other provinces of Eastern Ukraine will have little resistance. It is more than likely that political operatives from Russia have been plowing the field and also that Russian Spetznaz are well placed to take over select sites and communications, if it becomes time. If I were Putin I would stay east of the Dniper river which bisects the country. I would guess many of the Ukraine conscripts and officers relate to Russian soldiers more as comrades. Too bad it isn’t springtime. Ukraine has golf courses that could have enticed Barry’s boots on the ground.....

In the 80s Russia tried to subdue Afghanistan. They failed against tribesmen. We also failed but not due to the tribesmen but the failed rules of engagement from Washington and their insane thought they could make Afghanistan a functioning democracy.

Russia can roll over the Ukraine in a conventional battle. Do they have the stomach to battle for years against an insurgency that has sophisticated training and weapons. Russia battled in Afghanistan for years and lost their ass to tribesmen that were armed with western weapons.

At Ukrainian base, standoff turns into circus

PEREVALNE, Ukraine (AP) — Just inside the main gate to the military base, four young Ukrainian soldiers stood in the middle of the road, as if somehow they alone could stop what was on the other side.

They were hardly an intimidating group. They were young and unarmed and didn’t look like they had ever been anywhere near combat. One, the soldier whose eyes kept blinking nervously, didn’t look old enough to shave.
