Sen. Marco Rubio Urges Decisive Action Over Russian Military Move Against Ukraine
Fox News Latino ^ | March 01, 2014

In an op-ed piece that appeared in Politico, Sen. Marco Rubio, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that Russia's military intervention in Ukraine calls for no less than "immediate and decisive U.S. leadership."

Rubio said that the conflict can escalate, with broader repercussions in the region, and that the United States must act swiftly and condemn Russia's actions.

“Russia's illegal military incursion in the Crimea region in Ukraine is a grave violation of a nation's sovereignty and cannot go unpunished," Rubio said in the Politico piece. "First, President Obama should speak unequivocally and call this what it is: a military invasion. Second, President Obama should dispatch Secretary Kerry and Secretary Hagel to Kiev to show U.S. support for Ukraine's transitional government. Third, the U.S. should rally our allies to boycott this June's G8 summit in Sochi."

Rubio, a Florida Republican who frequently has accused the Obama administration of being too slow to react to international crises, said Russia needs to be handed consequences if it does not retreat.

Looks like all the gop will rally around “their” president. Lots of “war talk” coming out of Washington. We’d best sit this one out. But I doubt we will.

These clowns are recognizing a “government” that is the result of an over throw of the elected government. If it’s that easy, when do we start?

Seriously, if we get involved with our military we need to protest.

I've posted this before but with repeating IMO...

How much has our military been weakened since Reagan? We know the Leftists have completely jacked the economy since Reagan. Looks to me like before we're able to deal effectively with Russia and any other aggressors in the future, we've got to do what the American people and Reagan did in the 80's:

1) oust the current regime in Washington DC
2) get the economy back on right footing by HUGE CUTS IN GOVERNMENT AND TAXES and letting the free market do what it does best: CREATE WEALTH,
3) Build the military back up once again to the world's strongest (weakness not strength invites war),
4) take down the NSA and other threats to American citizens
5) build up our intelligence community to make it first rate

Whatever aggressor-country hotspots including the Ukraine are relevant after 1-5 is done...

6) with good and verified intelligence, we should covertly work with the forces of freedom in the threatened country. In the case of the Ukraine if it’s still relevant, discern whether eastern Ukraine wants to join Russia and whether western Ukraine does not,
7) THEN, with actual and overwhelming force at our disposal, we should condemn the aggressor (Russia in this case) for threatening to invade the threatened country (Ukraine in this case) and move forces into the area with full intention of defending those that want to remain free,
8) we should seek diplomacy with the aggressor nation on the basis of our strength not weakness and any treaties or agreements should be based on “trust but verify.”

Note: We should NOT do what Bush did and start invading countries to force them to become democratic. That is NOT what America is here for. But we ARE here to help ourselves and others defend freedom against unwanted aggression and oppression.

Hey, while Putin is taking the Ukraine and China taking Zimbabwe, let’s take Cuba! We could take the whole country in a couple days.

I understand. What I’m saying is “goose and gander” stuff. Who gets to overthrow their government and who doesn’t?

It is absolutely irresponsible to promote a war with Russia while simultaneously supporting open borders in the US. This man needs to be run out of town.

No blood for vodka.

This is a chess game, and this move was long predicted. America has to get off of its own citizens backs, cut off illegal aliens work, block outsourcing and get industrially and financially strong again before it will be able to make effective moves in this game.

Oh Really? What would you do, send troops over there?

Rubio's engaged in just a bunch of big talk. His decisive action: "boycott G8 summit." "Send Hagel to dress 'em down!"

I'm quaking in my boots just thinking about this scolding. I'm sure Putin is, too.

Yes and give them both rifles and make sure they know which end to point at the Russians.

Taking Japan’s side against China over those rocks in the Pacific was not a smart move, agree?

Frankly I wish Obama would just go play golf, he does less damage that way.

Not interested. The Russian can have that nightmare. We America, need to repair all of the damage that 5 plus years of Obama have done to us and our economy. Get rid of the millions of illegals, scrap Obamacare and get America working again. The we can worry about everywhere else.

Good afternoon.

Frankly I wish Obama would just go play golf, he does less damage that way.

That is the best advice that I have seen regarding this invasion.
