Good evening, yarddog....with all those canoes, I wonder if the body of water was “attached” to a resort of some sort.

Yes it was and is a beach retreat. I have a lot of pictures of Lake Wannsee, mostly with soldiers sitting around in lounge chairs. One does show a soldier with his M1 garand standing guard at the end of a pier. He looks pretty relaxed tho. There is a sign placed on the beach saying the water is polluted probably as a result of the fierce combat around Berlin.

I did a google search for Lake Wannsee and there are a lot of pictures of it’s beach covered with hundreds of swimmers,sunbathers etc.

I also have pics of the building which still exists where the infamous Wannsee Conference was held.
