Last month's revolution in Ukraine saw thousands of students, workers and families take to the streets to demand political reform.

But amongst the crowds of ordinary citizens were a small number of far-right groups, who were often responsible for the most organised and violent protests.

Sasha Beliy - a Ukrainian gangster and a lieutenant of Dimitri Yarosh - a Maidan protest leader. Here he is attending a session of Rovno regional parliament. Note AK and knives he is using to back his ‘advice’ to vote for a free housing for ‘Maidan heroes’ and to criminalize Communist party and Party of Regions:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xpVXi3kPbAs

This same person again visiting a district attorney. Note how he is using necktie to suffocate attorney and beats his deputy in a face:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9zXfg1NFMrU

Sasha is ‘famous’ for traveling into Chechnya to fight along terrorists. He is advocating ‘Greater Ukraine’ expanding further into mainland Russia and Poland, including killing local Polish and Russian population ‘to make sure no Jews left alive anywhere near’.

I guess Ukies are now happy with their protests. These are guys running the show now.

If you were a Russian Jew in Ukraine..how would you feel about about a Neo Nazi Chief Prosecutor.

It’s more than just a few.

Btw, our State Department is backing the Neo Nazis. Wants one of them consulted multiples times a week behind the scenes.

Even though I don’t want to see Russian troops pouring into Ukraine, the nationalist side was/is corrupt and inept as hell. Russia is right when they say they have interest to look after. I still can’t figure out why Ukraine is so set on joining the EU? That organization is a globalist piece of crap. When your economy is a leftover from the “good old USSR days” the EU isn’t going to be a magic pill. One thing is that Putin is going to make Obama look like more of a weak doofuss than he already is. Maybe President Zero will just take another vacation and go golfing.

This is the most serious crisis of the 21st century, so excuse me but If some guy likes Jews or not is not really a primary issue now. “Nazis” (in practice “far right” party like others existing across Europe and elsewhere, Le-Pen and all) were instrumental in defending peaceful protesters against government's security forces. Once things cool down, they will be booted out, can't happen at the moment.

There are plenty of anti-semites in the Russian ranks. Putin’s first move was to go after the “oligarchs,” who just happened to be mainly Jewish. Then he replaced them with his own cronies.

There are pro-Russian, Putinist websites out there which are full of anti-semitism. Putin is also anti-Israeli. He is an important supporter of the Mullahs in Iraq, and of Assad in Syria. Pick an evil regime, and there you will find Russia supporting it: North Korea is another example.

If there were no Jews at all in the world, Putin would still be invading his neighbors. At root it is a Russian problem, not basically a Jewish problem.

The Jews are targets often for extreme nationalists, because they have a separate loyalty to their own traditions. Even those Jews who have abandoned their heritage, still cannot escape. Nationalism is a very powerful force, and is often dangerous to anyone who does not fit the mold exactly, and eventually it is even a threat to ordinary members of the majority group in which it takes hold. No one really prospers under blind nationalism, because it is seldom creative: it is usually socialistic.

We see this in history repeatedly. But who learns from history? Most people learn nothing from history, and they don’t even understand history when it is actually happening at the time, even to themselves!

And so we have some posters who are pro-Putin. It means that they believe the propaganda, because it backs the side they have chosen. They are like sports fans who will live and die for a team they happen to have chosen, when it really makes no sense. But unlike sports (where it really doesn’t matter who wins the Superbowl), nationalism really can cause harm, because its mob behavior extends far beyond a stadium..

“It is troubling that Ukraine’s respectable opposition parties are playing into Russia’s hand while adopting the Nazi-like Svoboda as a legitimate political force. Advancing the credibility of an extremist group that dredges up the worst associations with Europe’s past does not bode well for Ukraine’s future. This should have been highlighted in the State Deportment’s report.”

Support of Yanukovich does not equal support or Putin.

Even Yanukovich largest financial backer has publically renounced the Russian action on Crimea.

However, there probably is a large degree of overlap between the two.

It is not Putin Propaganda that the Svoboda party are Nazis and that one has just been installed as Chief Prosecutor nor is it propaganda that the State Department wants the Neo nazis consulted with 4 times a week.

You can hear Nuland herself talk about it..unless you think Putin made up that phone call ..HINT - he did not.

Be fair, a PM in Ukraine has to walk a pretty fine line to not tick off either the Ukrainian nationalists or the Russians.

That’s why a breakup probably makes sense.

The lesson from the 1917 Russian Revolution is that the most ruthless are the ones who win in times of chaos.

Certainly, despite their name, the “Bolsheviks” were but a minority of those who opposed the Czar....and they didn’t immediately gain power after the Czar’s abdication, but they ultimately won.

I sort of agree, at least as far as Crimea is concerned. It was never really part of Ukraine proper anyhow was it? Was sort of autonomous republic.

With the other southers and eastern provinces it gets a lot more hairy, and a breakup could set an awful presedence, which is why the baltic NATO members invoked article 4.

That's what you often get in multi-party system, Netanyahu until recently had in coalition guys saying things like “The sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews”. “Nazis” are a small part of a new government, they are temporary needed, unfortunately.

Once China tries to conquer Taiwan, I guess you will have no problem with that If only it turns out that one of minor parties supporting Taiwan's government is anti-semitic or pro-homo, right ?

It may be a delusion that if you just make separate countries (Russian minority in one, more predominantly Ukrainian in another), things will be better.

I am not so sure, for several reasons. First, there will assuredly be no agreement on the division: there will be a border problem. Second, the people will not be separated perfectly: many probably do not wish to move, just to be in a pure country. Some are intermarried, and have jobs and friends, and property which they would not like to abandon.

But finally, a separation means giving up on learning to live together in a civilized manner. If you can’t even live with your neighbors within one country, how is it possible that you will not in a short time be waging war on those same people who are now in another country?

Look, the Russians under Putin can’t keep from invading their neighbors. They are more of a threat to Ukrainians than are the Russians living in eastern Ukraine. These people have to learn to live together.

It may sound impossible to expect slightly different people to be nice to each other within the same country, but one must start somewhere. And a rump Ukraine is not as viable as one with the geographic variety found within its present borders.

Ukraine is much poorer than it should be. It has land and climate perfect for agriculture, and should be like several Iowas. Unfortunately, Stalin did his best to exterminate the best farmers in his collectivization drive. Then came WWII. Then communism for yet another 45 years or so. Is it any wonder that their political system is a mess? They need some peace, and they need outside connections to the West, and they need freedom from Russia.

And Russia needs to learn to live peacefully with its neighbors. They have never learned this lesson. There is no country on the borders of Russia which has not been invaded by them at some time in the last century. And they border on quite a few countries. Even if they had a border with Switzerland, they would probably be invading the Swiss.
