As the fast-moving crisis in Ukraine shows no sign of winding down, the United States frequently dubbed the lone remaining superpower since the Soviet Union fragmented and fell finds its place in the world questioned and perhaps tenuous.

More immediately, does the Obama administration have any effective options to influence behavior in Ukraine as Russian military forces surge there, taking over its Crimea region, and amounting to what interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk calls "a declaration of war?
As hundreds of armed men in trucks and armored vehicles surrounded a Ukrainian military base in Crimea Sunday, Prime Minister Yatsenyuk said, "We are on the brink of disaster.

Obama’s upbringing and training were all intended to raise a communist.
As a communist, his mission was to destroy the U.S. constitution, and the U.S. itself. All of that was accomplished from within.
The U.S. still has a chance to recover, but, with people like him and the liberals and socialists in congress, and the liberal “state” press to carry their water, and the dependent society which democrats created, it’s going to be a very rough road back, and we might never make it back.
The USSR was a model for communism, and when the Soviet Empire crumbled, it was a huge disappointment to communists everywhere, including Obama and Alinsky. But, a communist America, or a destroyed America, would never leave their dreams and desires. They knew how to get it done, and we’re witnessing the results, and Obama is celebrating, while making the necessary speeches to deflect any accusations that might point fingers at his real mission.
America was duped, and we have to take that statement that Obama made to Putin last year, just before the election, as a “smoking gun”; and that statement was about how he (Obama) would have more flexibility after the elections. We now know what that statement meant, and both Putin and Obama played us all for fools.
The goal of communists is to create a world that is all communist, and Russia is the leader in that mission, and Obama is going along with it, because, it will be the culmination of his lifelong dream, and that of his mentors.
I wouldn’t say we have a “woman” government. We have a “sissy” government. I’m not a completely devoted blind Palin fan, but I don’t think we’d have a “sissy” government if she was in the white house. I truly do believe she’d be another Thatcher. If John McCain’s not around to screw it up.
What year did the US Senate ratify that treaty, do you remember?
Not under Obama! He wants a post America world.
Obama is a Communist plant that took 47 years to train and put into position.
Not with obama in office. Rather than a “superpower,” we are now officially a “poopersour.”
Power is a combination of hardware and heart.
Good point. Sarah is great but even she would agree we need a man— NOW.
Was that not always his plan?
He is more concerned with disarming law abiding US citizens than standing up to Putin.
Any country that possess enough nukes and have the means to deliver them should be considered a superpower.
It appears your implication is correct. I cannot find that it was even presented to the Senate for ratification.
Looks like another worthless assurance of support from the West to Eastern Europe. The Ukrainians should have remembered Czechoslovakia and Poland, before giving up their nukes.
