Obama Claims Terrorist Dictator is Israel’s Best Chance for Peace

This comes from the Jeffrey Goldberg interview with Obama which hits all the same old notes.
If Israel doesn’t make a deal with Abbas, it will be more isolated than ever and Obama won’t be able to “protect” it. Settlement growth is out of control, Obama claims, when it’s barely a blip on the radar.
Obama criticizes Israel, but not the Palestinian Authority. Instead he praises Abbas.
Obama made it clear that he views Abbas as the most politically moderate leader the Palestinians may ever have. It seemed obvious to me that the president believes that the next move is Netanyahus.
OBAMA: I believe that President Abbas is sincere about his willingness to recognize Israel and its right to exist, to recognize Israels legitimate security needs, to shun violence, to resolve these issues in a diplomatic fashion that meets the concerns of the people of Israel. And I think that this is a rare quality not just within the Palestinian territories, but in the Middle East generally…
In that kind of environment, where youve got a partner on the other side who is prepared to negotiate seriously, who does not engage in some of the wild rhetoric that so often you see in the Arab world when it comes to Israel, who has shown himself committed to maintaining order within the West Bank and the Palestinian Authority and to cooperate with Israelis around their security concerns — for us to not seize this moment I think would be a great mistake.
International diplomats have been advising Israel to “seize this moment” for twenty years.
1. Obama claims that Abbas is sincere about recognizing Israel – Abbas keeps repeating that he won’t recognize Israel.
And we are talking here about terrorists who committed crimes after peace negotiations began and who murdered civilians and who are even members of Hamas.
3. Abbas refuses to run for reelection, to appoint an independent Prime Minister or hold a session with an elected legislature. He does not control Gaza. He only controls the West Bank with terrorist militias.
4. Abbas has said that he is the same as Hamas.
President Abbas told a Russian interviewer, As far as I am concerned, there is no difference between our policies and those of Hamas. So why are they labeled as terrorists?
Any more questions about Obama’s choice for Israel’s peace partner?
Cemeteries are peaceful - is that what he has in mind?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
I don’t believe that YOU “believe” the lies you’re feeding us.
You have no evidence for believing the assertions in your statement.
All of the evidence contradicts your assertions.
Why do you expect anybody to believe your lies and then be stupid enough to bet their life and their national security on your lies?
The fact is that you are using this false premise as a basis to penalize Israel, for not behaving as though they are stupid enough to believe you.
“If Israel doesnt make a deal with Abbas, it will be more isolated than ever and Obama wont be able to protect it.”
One more reason why Israel won’t make a deal with Abbas. Two coups in one, Israel will also get rid of Obama, this crass, lazy, incompetent punk.
It seems to me that Bibi and Abbas have pretty much decided amongst themselves to tolerate the Obama/Kerry pain in the ass and keep on keeping on the status Quo.
There is a peace of sorts that satisfies neither but they are living with it.
Obama and Kerry are a minstrel show joke
Honestly. Obama will sow the seeds of destruction for Israel; they might even sprout before his second term is up.
If I were Bibi Netanyahu, I’d have all my nukes that are on missiles on ready standby, and I’d have the carry ones loaded in bunkered planes, ready to go.
Why? Because when push comes to shove, Obama will do the same thing for Israel as he is doing for Ukraine/Crimea. Absolutely nothing.
The Palestinians in the PLO and HAMAS are currently under intense pressure and falling apart.
The Muslim Brotherhood is the power behind the the Palestinians and Egypt is cracking down on the the MB in Gaza and the smuggling which props up the Palestinians which is strangling them. Same with the Saudis.
Their benefactors such as Saddam and Gaddafi are dead.
Assad in Syria has his own problems and is preoccupied at the moment.
Jordan sees them a enemies.
Iran has taken over in Lebanon and does not need the the Palestinians as an excuse or patsy anymore
Europe is broke and increasingly cannot afford to support the corrupt Palestinians government financially anymore.
“I will stand with the muslims....” turns out to be the only truthful thing he’s ever said.
Doing anything Obama wants is penny-wise but pound foolish.
And not only that, but he will renege on paying you the penny.
So their only real option is to delay until the next POTUS, and hope against hope that he is not a Democrat, because that entire political party is now hopelessly antisemitic.
In the long term, everything they might hope for from the US had better be “cash up front”, because no matter what help the Republicans offer Israel, the Democrats will try to undermine or negate it.
Well, Israel has treated the Paleos with kid gloves for too long. Either they act forcefully or they will lose. Whining about how it’s not nice to kick out people who are trying to murder you is a damn dumb way to behave.
So give the Paleos an ultimatum. To the Gazans, behave or you will become Egyptians. To the West Bank, behave or you will become Jordanians.
obama is a moslem. He’d bomb Israel himself if he thought he had a chance of getitng away with it.
Lord, obama hates Israel. He works against it. Please remove him and his entire regime (in whichever way is expedient) before he can cause any more damage.
Abbas has rejected Israel’s right to exist, rejected the concept of a Jewish state, and has done so throughout his public (and quite criminal) life. Thanks SJackson.
