The United States is acting like a nation in decline in its dealings with Russia over Ukraine rather than projecting strength, say former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton.
The problem, Rumsfeld says, is that President Barack Obama has no strategy based on U.S. interests.
Obama doesn't care about U.S. national security issues, Bolton agreed Monday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."
"This is not a problem of today. It's not a problem of what Obama didn't do on Friday or what he's not going to do tomorrow," Bolton said. "It's a problem of having five years of no thinking about what America's interests are. When the crisis hits, your options are very limited.

That’s pretty straight talk——IOW, we’re screwed ..
There are elections coming up...only vote for Conservatives all the way down to dogcatcher.
Putin quite literally kills people who upset him (reporters). The Kenyan piece of filth goes on Ellens tv show and dances like a man who dreams of taking male appendages into his mouth. What do you expect?
“It’s a problem of having five years of no thinking about what America’s interests are. When the crisis hits, your options are very limited.
That nails it right there.
Other than gay rights, muslim brotherhood interests, abortions, redistribution of wealth, golf, his image, and abusing power; Obama isn’t very concerned.
Obama is the sorriest man that has ever walked into the oval office.
Really?

Jury is still out on whether he’s a man or not. Google Larry Sinclair.
Do Americans have much interest in the Ukraine ?
” Negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a chicken . It knocks over the pieces, shits on the board, then struts around like it won something”
Vladimir Putin
If we don’t, we should have not made guarantees when leaning on Ukraine to surrender its nuclear weapons.
Stop asking reasonable questions.
Rumsfeld and Bolton are two leading reasons this country’s in decline.
...Obama isnt very concerned.
****
Actually, Obamugabe and President Jarrett have been quite successful in the foreign policy sphere. It’s just that their goal of destroying America’s economic and political strength is at odds with our hopes of seeing America remain a superpower.
Bolton has interests in us intervening everywhere.
He’s John McCain without Depends.
You betcha arse he has a strategy which I hope all future Presidents will adopt. That is to keep the USA out of foreign entanglements or we will meet the fate of England.
The last century was all wars. Europe in the first half and Asia in the second. Now we are at it in the NE, Africa, with thoughts on So. America. Notice the sun is now setting on England.
Groups in nations start a revolt and want us to go die to make it happen for them. I don't know whose interests Bolton and Rumsfeld have in mind but more war isn't ours. With China in the wings a war with Russia would be existential for us. They might stop loaning us money and watch us sink.
What do you mean “we” Kemo Sabe?
Clinton signed it, not me.

I believe Obama could go either way. I am not sure which he would prefer.
If there was a “low down” club at his church, I wouldn’t be shocked if he had been a member.
Cute. Silly Ukrainians thought the US government meant something. Nice way we repay them for helping us.
“Ukraine has been playing an increasingly larger role in peacekeeping operations. Since 1992, over 30,000 soldiers have taken part in missions in the former Yugoslavia (IFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, UNPROFOR and UNTAES in Croatia, KFor in Kosovo), the Middle East (Southern Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq), and Africa (Angola, Sierra Leone, Liberia).[35]
Since 1997, Ukraine has been working closely with NATO and especially with Poland. A Ukrainian unit was deployed as part of the multinational force in Iraq under Polish command. Ukrainian troops are also deployed as part of the Ukrainian-Polish Battalion (UKRPOLBAT) in Kosovo. The total Ukrainian military deployment around the world as of 1 August 2009 is 540 servicemen participating in 8 peacekeeping missions.[35]
The first battle of a regular formation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces happened on April 6, 2004 in Kut, Iraq, when the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent was attacked by militants of the Mahdi Army. The Ukrainians took fire, and over several hours held the objectives they had been assigned to secure.[36]
Ukrainian troops as part of the former Soviet Armed Forces contingent participated in UNPROFOR in 1992, and in the summer of that year were involved into the civil war in Yugoslavia. On July 3, 1992 the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution committing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to UN peacekeeping missions. The Minister of Defense, Kostyantyn Morozov, ordered the creation of the 240th Separate Special Battalion (UKRBAT-1) which was based on the 93rd Guard Motor-Rifle Division (now the 93rd Mechanized Infantry Division). Soon after arrival in Sarajevo on July 31, 1992, the battalion’s artillery complex ended up in the middle of a mutual mortar fight between the Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. One of the Serbian shells hit the Ukrainian position, seriously wounding seven soldiers, one of whom died after hospitalization in Germany.”
We should be ashamed.
