Republicans from Western states are expected on Tuesday to urge a U.S. appeals court to rule state bans on gay marriage unconstitutional, an aide said, citing shifts in the cultural standpoints of some conservatives in a broad national debate.
Former U.S. senators Alan Simpson of Wyoming and Nancy Kassebaum of Kansas were among some 20 Republicans who signed a legal brief to be filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver.
The court is to hear cases from Utah and Oklahoma, where federal courts have ruled state bans on same-sex marriage were unconstitutional.

So predictable. And they wonder why we go after these people to remove them from office.
And who is Nancy (Landon) Kassebaum married to (her father was the 1936 republican nominee)? Why, Howard Baker of course. The moderate senate minority leader in the 70’s, the Mitch McConnell of his day, but with a worse voting record. Democrat handmaiden. The Establishment wanted to make him president in 1980.
Alan Simpson is now one of these ‘personal injury’ TV lawyers. I see his ads all the time in northern Colorado.

Readers: Please tell where in the Constitution it delegates the definition of marriage to Federal judges.
The country is looking more like a dictatorship every day.
Don’t disagree. But this is by definition the nature of political parties in a democratic system, particularly when it’s a two-party system.
When the electorate changes, the parties shift their positions to maintain their competitiveness. Very much the way businesses change their product line as consumers alter their preferences.
I think it’s a lot more reasonable to blame the American people, who have shifted dramatically on this issue in the last few years, and with every indication that the rate of shift is increasing.
GOP pols, not particularly surprisingly, don’t want to die on this particular hill.
I miss the days when I could safely assume that the GOP wasn’t infested with the same kind of degenerate scumbags that the Dems were.

Article IV, Section 1: Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.
Once one state made gay marriage legal, it was all over but the shouting, and arguably constitionally, too.
I don't expect the Supremes to declare that all states must allow same-sex marriages to be performed within their borders, or at least not as a result of the first such case to reach them, but I expect they will require all states to recognize gay marriages performed in other states.
This is not consistent with the way the courts have handled state laws on first-cousin marriages, for example, but then there isn't a massive wave of sentiment in favor of cousin marriage sweeping the country.
Indeed, no way our Founding Fathers could have remotely conceived such societal decay and depravity as now exists in America. Heck, no way my late grandparents could have ever conceived of it! A country that actually celebrates sodomy, vileness, and moral degeneracies as virtues!
Actually, I’m so grateful my grandparents (and their forebearers), who contributed so much in building and contributing and giving their lives for this country, never had to witness what it has now devolved down into.

She, like Simpson and Bob Dole are the type the establishment (and the democrats) look to and trump up as “reasonable republicans,” “pragmatic republicans,” “common-sense republicans,” “republicans that get things cross the aisle and get things done,” in other words, democrat handmaidens, conservative bask-stabbers or front-stabbers.

...societal debauchery is nothing new, and was nothing new in the 18th century (or any other time,for that matter)...what has changed is that such turpitude has gained approval, or better stated, has lost its opprobrium, and attracted much support in the way of culturally influential elites...which of course begs the question as to how these elites became so elite...and we look in the mirror, and we see...?

Anal sex does not consummate a marriage. The anus is not a sexual organ. Therefore sodomite “marriage” does not exist.

I agree with you. But slightly more than half of all Americans don’t, now. And the percentage continues to rise, and apparently the rate of increase.
You can take refuge in dictionary or historical legal definitions, if you like, but it won’t alter the legal facts on the ground.
In the final analysis, Americans get the government they deserve.
And the sad part about all this legalization of homosexual “marriage” started with republicans.
Apparently “conservative” WY is big into official gaydom, but I don’t know why.
