There are no Republicans in the Austin Metro— Maybe 2?

Not true, the Austin Metro area includes four counties surrounding Travis County, most of which are full of conservatives who had fled the Austin city limits. Williamson County, for instance, is part of the Metro area but is solidly conservative.

What is the potential now for the Dem to win with a Clintonian plurality if Dems can put a lot of money into a libertarian candidate (like Va. governor)?

I too am beginning to believe that “Ms.” Davis will lose, but I will have to wait until November 4 to be sure. Millions may yet come to her candidacy. Never underestimate this kind of “celebrity” figure. As far as those Hispanic counties voting against her, the will be for her in the fall. They were on March 4 voting for the intraparty opponent with an Hispanic name.

Lyndon B. Johnson got 59 percent in the general election of 1960 against John Tower, who gained exposure for the special election of 1961. The big beneficiaries of Cornball’s success are McC and Graham.

The press declared Eisenhower’s 55 to 56 percent in 1952 a “landslide”.

Stockman gave up his House seat to make the race for which he had little chance to begin. That’s why I voted for him.

Also Governor Reagan won with 59 percent in 1966 or 1970, and I believe President Reagan polled 59 percent in 1984. These were called landslides.

You didn’t vote for him (Stockman) for his smarts, I see ;)

The press. Oh yeah, they always get it right.

Against considerably stronger candidates, was his point.

Stockman was vigorously defined (defiled) by the MSM from the jump. As they did to Sarah Palin, as they did to the Rombot, as they did to Newt. Et cetera, et cetera.

Divide et impera. I see the hand of Karl Rove here. Who told Stovall he had a chance, with even less name recognition than Stockman?

I'm not talking about splitting the anti-Cornyn vote here, I'm talking about splitting the anti-Cornyn/RiNO money ..... that repeat of 2012, plus the huge overspending on Cornyn's campaign and the exuberant lying, =

KARL ROVE.

No, now, neither Jess Unruh nor Walter Mondale were considered particularly “strong” candidates.

You, Sir, are an idiot using Reagan's wins as an example!

No, now, neither Jess Unruh nor Walter Mondale were considered particularly “strong” candidates.

They had the support of their undivided party, which doesn't apply in this race, in which the GOP-e faced a pre-blackguarded insurgent candidate from the dissident Main Street (no Money) wing.

Not impressive of Corny, considering he dropped all that $$$ on a not-terribly-strong candidate the press hates.
