BREAKING: Facebook Considering Banning Gun Related Pages
The Truth About Guns ^

Posted on 03/04/2014 7:00:48 AM PST by Red in Blue PA

Gun control is losing steam. After doing their best to use the tragedy in Newtown to limit the constitutional rights of American citizens when it comes to owning and using guns, the millions of dollars and countless hours of campaigning led to exactly nothing happening on the national level and very little on the state level. Even those changes that did squeak through are being fought tooth and nail in the judicial system, and gun control advocates are quickly losing ground there as well. The reason is obvious: gun owners are well organized, engaged, and motivated. So naturally the next step for gun control advocates is to pressure Facebook into banning gun related pages — which they’re doing.

From VentureBeat:

Facebook may announce company policy changes for gun-related pages in the coming weeks, VentureBeat has learned.

The social network has been under pressure from the powerful Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Moms Demand Action civic group to ban gun-themed fan pages on the site.

Sources close to the conversations told VentureBeat, “Talks are progressing. The discussions are ongoing; there have been positive developments.”

If this happens, anyone Pro-2A needs to drop their Facebook account.

I do not have one and never will.

Frankly, I’m surprised they have not done so before now - or that they ever allowed them at all.

Yup, I don’t have one either. I refused to support some crumb bum that supported the jerk president.

Now then, if queers can force being served, why cannot those who wish to discuss a constitutional guaranteed freedom demand the same?

Anyone else notice that the Marxists are becoming more brazen with each passing day? From homosexuality to guns to globull warming. They are arrogantly defying anyone to cross them. They really think they OWN the controls on everything.

They are in need of a serious beat down.

Because Sodomy is a Constitutional right. It's right there in Article 13. Just ask the Supreme Court. They know all about that. They've actually read the Constitution (so I'm told).

Yes.

But if no one actually provides that beat-down, then they DO effectively own the controls on everything.

***...The reason is obvious: gun owners are well organized, engaged, and motivated.***

Maybe, but we have the Constitution on our side, and centuries of hard evidence of what happens when the citizenry loses its ability to defend itself. But I guess in today’s America simply having the law and Constitution solidly in your corner isn’t enough. You need to be an activist as well. So be it.

I use the internet more than most people. I don’t financially support anything though, really. I do use it as we used to use mail order, but that is it. I don’t respond to ads and I’ll even use google via chrome to find a place from which I want to buy something, but then cut and paste the raw address of the site into firefox to actually make the purchase.

I’m kinda cheesy that way.

So much for free-speech.

We’re talking about a fundamental Civil Right here, and they get to decide that we can’t talk about it?

Where do they get to decide which Commonsense Civil Rights are valid and which are not?

It’s high time that people start thinking about Conservative versions of Facebook, Twitter and other National Marxist run operations.

That happens all the time. Leftists either shout someone down or accuse them of racism, sexism, or the newest ad hominem attack, homophobia. This is done to discredit the speaker with who they disagree and shut down the debate before it even starts.

I do have an account - one with zero personal information. I have “friended” several 2nd Amendment groups and manufacturers to support them and to get news.

If Farcebook bans them there will be no point in having an account.

Money talks, BS walks.

facebook can not afford to annoy a majority of the USA nor can it afford to exclude future subscribers.

Mr. Egomanica may be able to push immigration amnesty outside of facebook but inside facebook he has a serious uses anger risk.

look at groupon.

just having a product like facebook become a “hesitation to use” vs an automatic is bad for stock prices. Facebook would become the NYC of the internet. Someplace to escape away from.

“Yup, I don’t have one either. I refused to support some crumb bum that supported the jerk president.”

And that sir is one of the major reasons we lose. We allow the Communists to organize everywhere way before we try to do it. There is a thriving 2nd amendment community on facebook that viciously counters the gun grabbers on a daily basis.

Remember, folks, that Alinsky can cut both ways.

Make FB play by it’s own rules. And keep in mind that FB doesn’t have the staff to go checking on all pages and instead relies on automation.

So 1) start posting pro-gun stuff all over the place, but especially on Liberal pages. 2) Hit the “abuse” button on any/all pro gun control pages.

The automation will do the rest, issuing warnings, shutting down pages, blocking accounts and generally creating a real mess that FB will have to employ actual HUMANS ( well paid ones at that) to clean up.

How much longer for what?

We can no longer be the silent majority. It doesn’t work anymore. We need to get dirty and use the same damn tactics against them that they have used on us for decades. You can either complain about the evils of social media and concede it to their side, or use that media to get our message out to those who are on the fence.

An extensive investigation by VentureBeat last week revealed that adults and children were making arrangements to buy, sell, and trade guns through the many Facebook fan pages devoted to guns and the people who use them, sometimes in violation of federal and state gun laws.

That's why they're even thinking about doing this. Given the amount of burdensome and complicated (and sometimes contradictory) state & federal gun laws, these pages expose Facebook to a fair amount of legal uncertainty. Facebook's actions (if they do it) are wrong, but the real issue here is the unconstitutional legal mess that is driving them to do it.

Of course, the principled position for Facebook would be to fight against these laws (and against any hypothetical allegations made against Facebook), but when has the company ever been principled?
