Kiev agitators 'trained in Poland' claims Putin

President Putin claimed on Tuesday that "well prepared" and organized protesters in Kiev who brought down the Yanukovych regime were "trained in Poland and Lithuania".

In his first in-depth comments since the Russian parliament gave the green light for military action in Ukraine on Saturday, Vladimir Putin told a press conference in Moscow, "look how well they were prepared."

"They underwent preparation in bases in Lithuanian and Polish border areas, and [of course] in Ukraine itself. Their instructors were ready for a lengthy time, you saw how they were prepared, like special forces, they were even divided up into squads," Putin told journalists.

On Saturday, the vice-president of the Russian Federation Council claimed that "gunmen who took over power in Kiev were trained in Poland and Lithuania".

The Polish defence ministry categorically denied the accusations on Tuesday.

A confident looking Russian president said today that, "there can be only one assessment of what happened in Kiev, in Ukraine in general. This was an anti-constitutional coup and the armed seizure of power. No one argues with this," he said.

Putin said Russia reserved the right to use all options in Ukraine to protect compatriots living in "terror" but that Moscow would use force only as a last resort.

"As for bringing in forces. For now there is no such need but such a possibility exists," he said. "What could serve as a reason to use military force? It would naturally be the last resort, absolutely the last."

It appears that Poland and Lithuania will be next on Putin’s schedule for invasion. He has to shut down those training bases.

There is a storm approaching.

with all the governmental restrictions of Western intelligence agencies and fear of being compromised by politicians and the media, Russia has one of the most effective intelligence agency in today’s world.

Didn't Hitler claim Austria was hosting agitators, and used that as an excuse to move in? I know he used protecting ethnic Germans as an excuse to annex the Sudetenland, just as Pooty-Poot is using "protecting ethnic Russians" as an excuse to invade Crimea. Is it me, or is the repeat of history getting really creepy? The rise of a dictator, threatening Europe, the rise of an Empire in the East, all while we in the US dither our way through an economic depression? George Santayana appear to be right again.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Gee,

Sounds like Putin has put Poland and Lithuania on his “menu” — after he absorbs Ukraine.

Well, at least we know now what Obama meant when he promised more “flexibility” to Putin after his re-election.

I wonder how much illegal Russian money George Soros “invested” in Obama’s re-election campaign.

All this in a year in which we observe the centennial of the beginning of the first World War.

I figure it’s just typical Russian BS, just like the crap they used to spew during the Cold War. Let’s not forget that Comrade Putin there is a former Cold Warrior himself.

If he actually believes the fatuous nonsense he’s peddling, then he’s either surrounded by lickspittles who are telling him BS, or worse yet, he actually believes it, in which case he’s completely delusional.

I tend to believe him but let's see the evidence.

Un Huh, and all those “domestic peacekeepers” in Ukraine, that happen to be wearing hand-me-down fatigues of the Russian Special forces, and carrying Russian standard issue weapons, are just trying to deliver food and water to those Ukrainian Soldiers, who must have accidentally cut of their water and electricity last night, while manning their post at Ukrainian bases.

Yeah, this seems rather desperate, an attempt to make it look like a broad conspiracy. Good grief. The Ukrainians needed someone else to tell them they shouldn’t like the guy that stepped down? Doesn’t look like the move of a man convinced he’s winning the public debate.

I thought Putin and Soros didn't like each other because of the former's social conservatism?

Of course, it may all be a put-on. After all, nothing's happened to George yet. I guess if Vlad were really ticked off at him something would have by now.
