Washington, D.C. may have the highest number of certified green buildings in the country, but research by Environmental Policy Alliance suggests it might not be doing much good. The free-market group analyzed the first round of energy usage data released by city officials Friday and found that large, privately-owned buildings that received the green energy certification Leadership in Energy Design (LEED) actually use more energy than buildings that didnt receive this green stamp of approval.LEED is the brainchild of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a private environmental group.

install more windmills at every side of the buildings then...
Ping.
That would make it look like a giant drone
Ha ha ha! Stupid greenie weenies!
Obama tells us to turn OUR thermostats down in the frosty cold winter but he keeps the White House and his party tent heated up to 75 or 80F
Obama and the Ukranian president are so much alike.
Tax the people half to death and spend all the money on yourself. Elite rulers do that
Only an 0bama voter would be surprised by this outcome.
We got a BIG grant for one of those enviro friendly roof gardens. Except the roof they got if for can't bear the load. Wait till they find out none of the roofs will bear the load cuz they were all designed for the same NYS criteria.
I think it was KKKKK that put in a pool and forgot to calc the weight of the water. I think they wound up using it for a chem bath....about 3 inches of solution.
Ah...and these are the brainy folks.
Why on earth would anybody in their right mind be surprised at this??
The entire “Green” thing is a fraud and a joke. It has been since the beginning. These people might as well announce how much they “care” as well. Total bullsh*t.
I make it a point to avoid any company that touts “being “green” as it’s primary objective, goal or benefit and encourage others to do the same as well.
Buahahahahahahaha turn out the lights and pull up your pants damn treehuggers
I’m an architects. It’s common to hear statements like, “these windmills won’t really produce enough energy to justify their cost, but they create a sustainable aesthetic.” It’s said without the slightest hint of irony.
This is building is certified LEED platinum which is the highest rating given by the USGBC

The skin is created by perforated metal on a steel superstructure and is completely aesthetic. It’s not a cladding. The building is essentially a glass box with the skin stuck on the outside. So a building is that used massive raw materials, produced pollution, used energy to produce and ship a metal skin that’s 100% aesthetic is considered “green”. Ok, it shades the glass, but is overkill for that purpose.
When the roof caves in, all those killed can be martyrs for Gaia.
They get 72 pairs of hemp Birkenstocks to wear in the afterlife.
There a local woman here who gets a lot of local press for her “green” column she writes for the paper.
Basically it’s a way to pimp her “LEED certification” design business. All of which the editors apparently love.
She gets more free press than your average local Minnesota democrat.
I think she gets paid according to how many times “sustainable” appears in her column.
Those buildings will be greener in the Summer, they have no air conditioning.
