Obama’s Journey from Arrogance to Incompetence
Commentary ^ | 3/4/2014 | Peter Wehner

...When he ran for the presidency, it was Barack Obama who never put limits on his criticisms of others. He spoke as if the problems of the world would disappear with two events: the removal from office of his predecessor and his arrival as president of the United States. Even in a profession not known for attracting modest individuals, Mr. Obama’s arrogance set him apart.

In 2008 his campaign aides referred to him as the “black Jesus.” He told congressional Democrats during the 2008 campaign, “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.” During that campaign, while still a one-term senator, Obama decided he wanted to give a speech in Germany – and he wanted to deliver it at the Brandenburg Gate.

“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Mr. Obama told Patrick Gaspard, his political director, at the start of the 2008 campaign, according to The New Yorker. “I know more about policies...than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now...I’m a better political director than my political director.” A convention speech wasn’t enough for Mr. Obama; Greek columns needed to be added. During an interview with “60 Minutes,” Obama said, “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln.” (The use of the word “possible” is priceless.) Mr. Obama has compared himself to LeBron James; his aides compared him to Michael Jordan. He clearly conceived of himself as a world-historical figure. Nothing, it seemed, was beyond his power.

I do believe that there are a large number of us that saw this coming like a freight train, 6 years ago.

I know for a fact that I did and went blue in the face trying to alert those around me.

We should thank Mr. Putin for being the one who showed us the Emperor has no clothes. His actions have silenced the fawing media who paved over his incompetence and arrogance. But, we have not seen the end of his arrogance! Watch as he runs for a 3rd Term, Cancelleds with a stroke of the pen, the election! I fear he will need to be blasted out of the White House. I hope I am wrong.

Bam-Bam is not stupid, or incompetent, or a failure, or a buffoon. We would be better off if those things were true.

He is evil, and anti-American, and on a mission deliberately to damage America in every possible way.

Obama’s Journey from Arrogance to Incompetence

Next pause on his journey, Impotence!

The final pause on his journey Irrelevance.

He is in free fall now: Arrogance - Incompetence - Impotence - Irrelevance.

Right.

Kind of like declaring Michael Sam to be a NFL First Round pick and Hall of Fame candidate, simply because he takes it up the poop chute.

Such a good read. Thanks. I watched the video at the link. Oh my, wasn't Boy Barak special? Powerful? Convincing? Now he mumbles his speeches with that petulant, put-upon, aggrieved expression on his face.

As House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers put it, “Putin is playing chess and I think we are playing marbles, and I don’t think it’s even close.”

Poor Boy Barak, the big kids are ganging up on him. Life is so unfair.

The guy is just not that bright.

From your citation re Dunning-Kruger:

The proposed solution is that the incompetent should be directly told they are incompetent.

Carter?

Nah.

He’s worse than Wilson OR Carter OR Johnson OR Clinton.

That’s a good article, short too. A corollary of that is incompetent people are always surrounded by incompetent employees. Super Geniuses like Obastard will only pick yes-men, and truly competent people tend to steer clear of these idiot-fests and self-select out.

” He did manage to win the nobel peace prize for pigment. “

LOL. And the Academy Award was won for pigment, too. The LA Times ran a very telling piece: “Oscars: ‘12 Years a Slave’ puts spotlight on Hollywood’s approach to race”

“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Mr. Obama told Patrick Gaspard, his political director, at the start of the 2008 campaign, according to The New Yorker. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m going to think I’m a better political director than my political director.” A convention speech wasn’t enough for Mr. (If you think I’m exaggerating, I’d urge you to watch this 30-second clip from an Obama speech in 2008.)

And that’s the point, isn’t it? Our relations with nation after nation – from Afghanistan and Iraq to Russia and China, from Turkey, Jordan and Pakistan to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea to India and Australia, from Honduras to Brazil, from Poland and the Czech Republic to Germany, Great Britain, Canada and more – are worse now than they were when Mr. Obama was sworn in as president in 2009. I’m not asking people to measure Mr. Obama against a standard of perfection; I’m asking them to measure him against his own promises, his own speeches, his own words.

To quote the Great One, “Everything Obama touches turns to crap.” I have been looking for the quotes from the first above paragraph for months now. Thanks for posting.

Seems like the gloves are off. Brit Hume really hit Obama hard and disagreed from the Idiot O’Reilly. It was great.

President Obama’s had it pretty rough lately, what with nobody taking him seriously about dealing with Putin.

This press conference was brought to you by the letters "S", "O", and "L", and by the number ZERO.

As takedowns go, this is a pretty good one.

Considered at face, the comparison still comes up short. Whatever his policy goofiness and mediocrity, Carter still sort of looked like an American President. And he recognized the danger of what the Pink Circus in the Congress was doing -- demolishing the intelligence and military capabilities of the United States under the twin rubric of "reforms" and "rationalization" (unilateral disarmament) -- and set out, with Defense Secretary Harold Brown, to turn around the worst of the rot.

He shut down the B-1 program (resuscitated by The Great One later on), but he simultaneously ordered the B-2 program to continue, and the F-117 program, and various strategically-significant submarine programs to be carried forward, together with the deployment of Pershing and cruise missiles to offset the Russians' SS-20 system aimed at blackmailing Europe.

So the Carter Administration, despite being a circus of Green tomfoolery and bad diplomacy, had some merits in the background.

Obama has nothing to show for anything, and the problem is, it's deliberate. Hence, as our FRiend posted in reply to yours, your basis of comparison is flawed. You're comparing a bumbler to a Quisling.

Thank you, I knew someone had to have saved me the trouble, that was my first thought after reading the headline. Arrogance and incompetence were his two main distinguishing characteristics from day one. Of course we have to realize that incompetence is not the only problem, malice is a large part of his resume as well.
