We do NOT launch ICBMs to influence a particular negotiation or situation. Not too damn often, anyway.

Apologias are flying off the shelf for Putin. It’s as if the good people of FreeRepublic decided to act like the American Left has for years by praising foreign tyrants who make problems for a president that is of the opposite party.

We just threaten to break treaties, pull funding and a million other far more damaging things than a test launch. See Honduras and Uganda for two recent examples. And of course Lybia, Syria and Egypt.. (Not that I’m for a lot of our foreign aid to begin with.)

This launch scheduled way before the opposition took to the streets. We knew about it. I believe it is part of the agreements attached to START.
