Ukraine chief rabbi accuses Russians of staging anti-Semitic ‘provocations’

NEW YORK (JTA) — Rabbi Yaakov Dov Bleich, a chief rabbi of Ukraine, accused Russia of staging anti-Semitic “provocations” in Crimea in order to justify its invasion of the former Soviet republic.

At a press conference in the Manhattan office of the United Jewish Communities of Eastern Europe, Bleich compared Russia’s behavior to that of the Nazis prior to the Anschluss invasion of Austria in 1938.

“Things may be done by Russians dressing up as Ukrainian nationalists,” he said, adding that it’s “the same way the Nazis did when they wanted to go into Austria and created provocations.”

Bleich, a vice president of the World Jewish Congress, also announced the creation of an aid effort, KievRelief.org, to fund security for synagogues and mosques and to provide humanitarian relief for all Ukrainians.

Bleich, who moved to Ukraine in 1989 from Brooklyn, was slated, along with other Ukrainian political and religious leaders, to meet with Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday. He said he will urge Kerry to be assertive with Russian President Vladimir Putin, to move the G8 Summit to Kiev, as a show of solidarity with Ukrainians, and to consider sending military support to Ukraine. While acknowledging that Americans are “war-weary,” he said Ukrainians need “boots on the ground to protect democracy” and to prevent “the cold war from getting hot.”

Asked about anti-Semitism among Ukrainian nationalists, particularly two far-right parties that have been included in the new government, Bleich acknowledged concerns but said the Jewish community has received assurances from top government leaders that their safety will be protected.

“The Russians are blowing this way, way out of proportion,” he said, referring to the issue of anti-Semitism among some Ukrainian nationalist factions.

He said that Ukrainians were united in response to the Russian intervention.

“There were many differences of opinion throughout the revolution, but today all that is gone,” he said. “We’re faced by an outside threat called Russia. It’s brought everyone together.”

It’s hardly a coup if the leader flees under threat of criminal prosecution for ordering the killing of civilians who are opposed to his policy actions. He’s a perp on the run. That’s what criminals do when they’re exposed and sought for prosecution. They flee to their hideouts.

And look at the “soldiers” and “sailors” on his side. They go around and occupy offices, ports and localities without any identification markings on them in violation of the Geneva Convention and international law. They operate like common criminals and pirates -because the are!

I'll just accept the following mens assessment if they're anti-Semitic over any Rabbi in Ukraine...

"Thirty members of the "Israeli Knesset" condemned the Svoboda party in a signed letter addressed to the President of the European Parliament.... In the letter the Israeli politicians accused 'Svoboda' of "openly glorifying Nazi murder" and "Nazi war criminals"

In May 2013 the "World Jewish Congress" labelled the party as "neo-Nazi" and called for European governments to ban them.

Svoboda and the Right Sector....Svoboda Party leaders...these guys are thugs and now running Ukraine's Government ...and the U.S. financed and assisted their rise..just like we did Morsi/Muslim Brotherhood and their thugs in Egypt..and the Islamic thugs in Syria

The question is why the United States continues to organize, fund and place in Gov. Dangerous Political Party thugs throughout the world?

These guys are neo nazi's and anti semitic..unfortunately the Gov. leadership in Ukraine now

No, you wake up. The VP of the World JEWISH Congress is telling you the Nazi scare is agitprop and the Russians are up to no good. Believe him or Russia Today. It’s your choice.

That is a most unfortunate situation. Don’t know why the rabbi said what he said.

‘Svoboda’ means ‘Freedom’, something that many Americans don’t understand or have forgotten about.

Any one in Ukraine will do as this current interim Gov. dictates...they can’t afford to be known as they really are so making it appear as if the Jewish community is supportive is a must. They’ll hold a gun to the head of any who refuse.

The U.S./E.U. orchestrated, organized, funded, and supported the Ukraine uprising...in order to position a Gov. which would push for Nato membership....they want control of Ukraine...it’s nothing about the peoples will.

The Neo nazi’s , like the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, have been playing their cards and seized the opportunity to take over the protest..and did. Sadly with a great deal of help from the US and Eu countries. Millions to orchestrate this coup!

Putin saw it coming....so of course he acted quickly and decisively...we would have as well if Putin made an attempt to take over Hawaii or any of our port lands.

Ya know Putin said from the very beginning there were fractions he was preventing from taking over....but the EU nor the US is going to “air that”...they want Putin blamed for it all in order for them to gain Ukraine and the geo-political gain it would be for the Globalist Agenda.

Putin is right...but the propaganda against him runs like wildfire! Trying to claim him as a nutcase when in fact anything public he says is to confound and confuse those he’s up against...he’s not going to show his cards til he’s ready to lay them out.

What we are hearing in the news cycles and what is actually happening behind the scenes are diametrically different in so many ways.

I know what it means ....but they are neo-nazi thugs never the less, and with an agenda of their own for Ukraine...and it’s not pretty!...and in fact if they are successful...the people will be wishing they had of gone with Russian control.

Be careful to know all the facts Justa....at least who funded and orchestrated this protest from the get go and why...has nothing to do with the people, they’re just being manipulated by greater powers. Do a little more research on who these guys are in Gov. in Ukraine now....you’ll be stunned.

Communists outnumber those ‘Neo-Nazis’ in Ukrainian government. ‘Nazis’ were members of the German NSDAP politacal party which has not existed since 1945, and there is no neo-NSDAP political party in Germany or anywhere else. Communists murders outnumber WWII cauysed by Germans by at least 5 to 1, and they continue to this day. Communists are all over the American government on all levels. Yet, the Communist propaganda that so many have been buying tells us that David Duke and a handful of crazies in whatever country are a danger to the Western Civilization! There have been no ‘NAZIS’ since the late 1940s. Congratulations on swallowing the bait and parroting Communist propaganda!

You said........"There have been no ‘NAZIS’ since the late 1940s"....

Open fascism and neo-Nazi extremism are alive and well in Ukraine...EuroMaidan protesters destroyed a memorial to Ukrainians who died battling German occupation during World War II.

further.... 15,000 Svoboda members held a torchlight ceremony in the city of Lviv in honor of Stepan Bandera, a World War II-era 'Nazi collaborator' who led the pro-fascist Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN-B).

... Lviv has become the epicenter of neo-fascist activity in Ukraine, with elected Svoboda officials waging a campaign to rename its airport after Bandera..(Bandera held fast to fascist ideology in the years after the war, advocating a totalitarian, ethnically pure Europe), and successfully changing the name of Peace Street to the name of the Nachtigall Battalion, an OUN-B wing that participated directly in the Holocaust...... “’Peace’ is a holdover from Soviet stereotypes,” a Svoboda deputy explained....

Additionally... 'Sieg heil salutes' and the 'Nazi Wolfsangel' symbol have become an increasingly common site in Maidan Square, and neo-Nazi forces established “autonomous zones” in and around Kiev during the protests and since.

The ultra-nationalist Svoboda, whose leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, called for the liberation of his country from the “Muscovite-Jewish mafia.”... After the 2010 conviction of the Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk for his supporting role in the death of nearly 30,000 people at the Sobibor camp,.....Tyahnybok rushed to Germany to declare him a hero who was “fighting for truth.”

Armed neo-fascists thugs, with appropriate logos, in the streets of Kiev

Ukrainian football has long been blighted by violent hooliganism fueled by heavily infiltrated by neo-Nazi supporters

Athens Greece..
