A treatise on race; the Democrats and Republican
Self | 5 March 2014 | Warrior Nurse

Posted on 03/04/2014 11:42:28 PM PST by Warrior Nurse

The last time I was deployed out here I posted a treatise on the subject. Please allow me to go deeper in to the topic. Let me state this I am out here in Afghanistan defend the rights of Mr. and Mrs. America to do whatever they want and indulge themselves as they please. I took my obligation freely and without mental reservation. When was the last time you obligated yourself to something other than your hedonistic pursuits. I must also state for the record that I am a black American. I didn’t say African American on purpose because unlike most black Americans I have been to Africa several times. I found very little to be redeeming about the places that I visited there. Just because some of my ancestors came from there does not mean I am inclined to name myself after a continent. Truth be told most black people can’t even name 10 countries in Africa or find Senegal on a map. Goree Island off the coast of Dakar is where most African slaves began the middle passage. Have you heard of that place? Most black people don’t know their own history and choose not to learn about what happened in the American and the origins of the slave trade. Africans sold other Africans to the Europeans which in turn took the slaves to America. This point not withstanding just as I recognize my African heritage I also must recognize my Scots-Irish, Indian and Jewish ancestry. Hat tip to Ancestry.com, you America we are a melting pot out of many one. I am going to talk about my view of racism and how that word is thrown around pejoratively as if it is a baseball or football. Recently I was accused of giving the GOP a pass on their racism. So I thought about this accusation. First and foremost I will define racism and state some white people are unfairly targeted as racist because of something that was said not by a single deed. Racism is the unfettered belief that one race is superior to another (thought). In practice racism is the subjugation of a race of people by another by law and statue e.g. apartheid and Jim Crow (Action or deed). Who is hurt by racist speech? The politically correct that is who, if some calls me by a racial epithet do I react? No, because they are just words touch me or try to deprive me of my right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that is something all together different. My grandmother used to say they talked about Jesus and he bared it no mind. It should roll off you like water on a ducks back. All I hear in the media and online is how racist the Republican Party is. Most examples that are cited is when someone running for office says something deemed racist but is actually in many cases inappropriate or politically incorrect. The truth doesn’t matter anymore, perhaps as Jack Nicholson said in A Few Good Men “ you can’t handle the truth.” Example: Newt Gingrich called President Obama the “food stamp” president. The caterwauling began instantaneously. Was that a racist statement no it was a true statement that many people didn’t want to hear or look up the statistics either. The record shows more people have enrolled in the food stamp program under this president then in the history of the program. That is called a fact Newt Gringrich’s hyperbole notwithstanding. Members of the GOP have said racial things but not necessarily racist. Peel the onion back recently someone from Iowa put up a chart depicting a flow chart about race and he was label a racist and apologized. Nothing in that gentleman’s background linked him to racism; make a satirical comment the world comes down on you. Caucasian comedians do this all the time say the vilest things about black Republicans and nothing happens. Condoleezza Rice as the Butterfly McQueen character in Gone with the Wind, Steele in black face during his run for Maryland Senate and many more Uncle Tom and sellout, calling Sen. Scott a Ventriloquist dummy the list goes on. One thing about Maryland that state was about to get its first black Senator during the race between Kwesi Mfume and Michael Steele truly historic. Well the racist Maryland Democrats didn’t like that scenario so Ben Cardin entered the race and won oh the Democrats love of black people speak volumes. Democrats and their acolytes in the media and entertainment will say anything they want about Republican and it is automatically assumed to be true. Spike Lee that little Gremlin said George Bush committed mass murder during Hurricane Katrina and Kayne West stated that George Bush hated black people even though two black Americans Powell and Rice were high level members of his Cabinet. That to me represents a certain psychosis in the liberal mind. If you have blacks working for you at the highest levels you are still a racist. Correct me if I am wrong but a racist would not want to have anything to do with a black person especially one in a powerful position that requires leadership, thought and judgment. The liberal say Rush Limbaugh is racist but his right hand man “Bo Snerdley” aka James Golden is black and paid very well by Mr. Limbaugh. The late Ken Hutchinson was one of Mr. Limbaugh’s best friends is that not odd? That is what I mean about actions. Liberals never want to peel back the onion dig deep unless it suits their agenda. Why should the President get a pass when he is criticized? First reaction from the dumbmasses of Americans “they are doing it because they don’t want a black man in the White House.” Never is it stated that these people do not agree with the policy or political philosophy of the President or his party, just raw emotion and no rational thought. I have heard that politics is a blood sport which back in 1856 Preston Brooks (D-SC) beat the hell out of Sen. Charles Sumner from Massachusetts with a cane because of an anti-slavery speech Sumner gave. The Democrat party has a long history of racist deeds then the Republicans. In fact the Democrat party has had an over 150 year head start. I will say this there are numerous white Democrats that are unhappy with the President they voted for him are they racist or suffering from buyer’s remorse? More Caucasians voted for Barack Obama then blacks. But one minority group voted over 90% for him and many will tell you it was because of his skin color. Just ask Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Joyner those “great political philosophers.” Liberal white guilt is also another factor as well. Shelby Steele has written volumes about that particular affectation. In 2011, as black unemployment continued to rise, the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus said that if Clinton was still president, “we probably would be still marching on the White House. (but) nobody want to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president.” The rapper Calvin Broaddus aka Snoop Dogg posted a list of voting reasons, number 1 on his list for reason to vote for Obama: He’s black top reason not to vote for Romney: He’s white. Snopp if it were not for white people buying your records you would not have that pimped out lifestyle you lead.

I really get tired of this victim mentality that a lot of black folk have. Then rich blacks like Tom Joyner and Oprah Winfrey chime in and say how racists America is. Are you kidding me? Tom Joyner is worth millions and the Oprah billions would that be possible anywhere else but America. The short answer HELL NO! Walter E. Williams, PhD once stated that black Americans are the richest Africanized people on the planet. Think I am lying go to Prince Georges County, Maryland and you will find the wealthiest concentration of black people living there. Personally my parents were from Mississippi born in the 1930’s back then Jim Crow was in session and the Klan was large and in charge. My father was drafted in the Army for the Korean War as an infantryman, became a squad leader and was in charge of white troops in 1953. Why?! Affirmative Action had not been invented yet there were no social programs designed to destroy the black family. The simple answer my father was a damned good squad leader and later platoon sergeant. One day in June of 1953 he showed out proved his mettle as a man and warrior fought for his life and the lives of his brothers in Arms. They won the Battle of Boomerang and he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in Action. A black man from Mississippi standing on his own two feet and leading whites, that was not too bad for a man that didn’t finish high school. My mother struggle was even more traumatic then my father’s. White men in Houston Mississippi murdered my grandfather in 1949 for not moving his wagon off the road fast enough. Who ran things down there at that time? The Democrat party and no one was convicted to this day although all the killers are dead justice was never served. My mother and her brothers saw the whole thing and testified at the trial here is the link for those that are interested. nuweb9.neu.edu/civilrights/malcolm-wright/. My parents had 3 rambunctious sons all born in Chicago we all went to Lindblom Technical High School which at the time was a college preparatory High School that you had to take a test to get into. The education we received there was phenomenal and still pays dividends to this day. 2 of us graduated from college, the oldest went to work for the post office and retired after reaching the level of Postmaster. The middle son is the Vice President for Rail Operations in major US city. Their youngest son followed in his father’s footsteps and has been a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, US Navy and is currently serving in Afghanistan as the Theater Director of Enroute Critical Care in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. This is not several generations deep the sons of poor blacks got education and lifted themselves to high levels in their chosen vocation. That my friend is victory not victimhood, go sell that elsewhere because I am not buying it and I sure as hell won’t sell it. So if you ask me why I will not vote Democrat my response is that I would rather be in hell with my back broken then vote for a Democrat.

The following are historical facts and events that are rarely stated in the media or anywhere else and what galls me is that feckless Republicans don’t know their own history and can’t articulate it that is shameful.

Fact: The Republican Party was founded primarily to oppose slavery, and Republicans eventually abolished slavery. The Democratic Party fought them and tried to maintain and expand slavery.

Why is this indisputable fact so rarely mentioned? PBS documentaries about slavery and the Civil War barely mention it, for example. One can certainly argue that the parties have changed dramatically in 150 years, but that does not change the historical fact that it was the Democrats who supported slavery and the Republicans who opposed it. And that indisputable fact should not be airbrushed out for fear that it will tarnish the modern Democratic Party.

Had the positions of the parties been the opposite, and the Democrats had fought the Republicans to end slavery, the historical party roles would no doubt be repeated incessantly in these documentaries. Funny how that works.

Fact: During the Civil War era, the "Radical Republicans" were given that name because they wanted to not only end slavery but also to endow the freed slaves with full citizenship, equality, and rights.

Yes, that was indeed a radical idea at the time!

Fact: Lincoln's Vice President, Andrew Johnson, was a strongly pro-Union (but also pro-slavery) Democrat who had been chosen as a compromise running mate to attract Democrats. After Lincoln was assassinated, Johnson thwarted Republican efforts in Congress to recognize the civil rights of the freed slaves, and Southern Democrats continued to thwart any such efforts for nearly a century.

Fact: The Ku Klux Klan was originally and primarily an arm of the Southern Democratic Party, and its mission was to terrorize freed slaves and Republicans who sympathized with them.

Why this fact is conveniently omitted in so many popular histories and depictions of the KKK, including PBS documentaries? Had the KKK been founded by Republicans, that fact would no doubt be repeated constantly on those shows.

Fact: In the 1950s, President Eisenhower, a Republican, integrated the US military and promoted civil rights for minorities. Eisenhower pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1957. One of Eisenhower's primary political opponents on civil rights prior to 1957 was none other than Lyndon Johnson, then the Democratic Senate Majority Leader. LBJ had voted the straight segregationist line until he changed his position and supported the 1957 Act.

Fact: The historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress. In the House, 80 percent of the Republicans and 63 percent of the Democrats voted in favor. In the Senate, 82 percent of the Republicans and 69 percent of the Democrats voted for it.

Fact: Contrary to popular misconception, the parties never "switched" on racism.

Following the epic civil rights struggles of the 1960s, the South began a major demographic shift from Democratic to Republican dominance. Many believe that this shift was motivated mainly by racism. While it is certainly true that many Southern racists abandoned the Democratic Party over its new support for racial equality and integration, the notion that they would flock to the Republican Party -- which was a century ahead of the Democrats on those issues -- makes no sense whatsoever.

Yet virtually every liberal, when pressed on the matter, will inevitably claim that the parties "switched," and most racist Democrats became Republicans! In their minds, this historical ju jitsu maneuver or Jedi mind trick apparently transfers all the past sins of the Democrats (slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow laws, etc.) onto the Republicans and all the past virtues of the Republicans (e.g., ending slavery) onto the Democrats! That's quite a feat!

It is true that Barry Goldwater's opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 probably attracted some racist Democrats to the Republican Party. However, Goldwater was not a racist -- at least not an overt racist like so many Southern Democrats of the time, such as George Wallace, Lester Maddox, William Fulbright and Bull Connor. He publicly professed racial equality, and his opposition to the 1964 Act was based on principled grounds of states rights. In any case, his libertarian views were out of step with the mainstream of the Republican Party, and he lost the 1964 Presidential election to LBJ in a landslide.

But Goldwater's opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act provided liberals an opening to tar the Republican Party as racist, and they have tenaciously repeated that label so often over the years that it is now the conventional wisdom among liberals. But it is really nothing more than an unsubstantiated myth -- a convenient political lie. If the Republican Party was any more racist than the Democratic Party even in 1964, why did a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress vote for the 1964 Civil Rights Act? The idea that Goldwater's vote on the 1964 Civil Rights Act trumps a century of history of the Republican Party is ridiculous, to say the least.

Every political party has its racists, but the notion that Republicans are more racist than Democrats or any other party is based on nothing more than a constant drumbeat of unsubstantiated innuendo and assertions by Leftists, constantly echoed by the liberal media. It is a classic example of a Big Lie that becomes "true" simply by virtue of being repeated so many times.

A more likely explanation for the long-term shift from Democratic to Republican dominance in the South was the perception, fair or not, that the Democratic Party had rejected traditional Christian religious values and embraced radical secularism. That includes its hardline support for abortion, its rejection of prayer in public schools, its promotion of the gay agenda, and many other issues.

In the 1960s the Democratic Party essentially changed its strategy for dealing with African Americans. Thanks largely to earlier Republican initiatives on civil rights, blatant racial oppression was no longer a viable political option. Whereas before that time Southern Democrats had overtly and proudly segregated and terrorized blacks, the national Democratic Party decided instead to be more subtle and get them as dependent on government as possible. As LBJ so elegantly put it (in a famous moment of candor that was recorded for posterity), "I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years." At the same time, the Democrats started a persistent campaign of lies and innuendo, falsely equating any opposition to their welfare state with racism.

From a purely cynical political perspective, the Democratic strategy of black dependence has been extremely effective. LBJ knew exactly what he was doing. African Americans routinely vote well over 90 percent Democratic for fear that Republicans will cut their government benefits and welfare programs. And what is the result? Before LBJ's Great Society welfare programs, the black illegitimacy rate was as low as 23 percent, but now it has more than tripled to 72 percent.

Most major American city governments have been run by liberal Democrats for decades, and most of those cities have large black sections that are essentially dysfunctional anarchies. Cities like Detroit are overrun by gangs and drug dealers, with burned out homes on every block in some areas. The land values are so low due to crime, blight, and lack of economic opportunity that condemned homes are not even worth rebuilding. Who wants to build a home in an urban war zone? Yet they keep electing liberal Democrats -- and blaming "racist" Republicans for their problems!

Washington DC is another city that has been dominated by liberal Democrats for decades. It spends more per capita on students than almost any other city in the world, yet it has some of the worst academic achievement anywhere and is a drug-infested hellhole. Barack Obama would not dream of sending his own precious daughters to the DC public schools, of course -- but he assures us that those schools are good enough for everyone else. In fact, Obama was instrumental in killing a popular and effective school voucher program in DC, effectively killing hopes for many poor black families trapped in those dysfunctional public schools. His allegiance to the teachers unions apparently trumps his concern for poor black families.

A strong argument could also be made that Democratic support for perpetual affirmative action is racist. It is, after all, the antithesis of Martin Luther King's vision of a color-blind society. Not only is it "reverse racism," but it is based on the premise that African Americans are incapable of competing in the free market on a level playing field. In other words, it is based on the notion of white supremacy, albeit "benevolent" white supremacy rather than the openly hostile white supremacy of the pre-1960s Democratic Party. From a psychological stand point black American that vote Democrat have the most pronounced case of Stockholm Syndrome known to man.

The next time someone claims that Republicans are racist and Democrats are not, don't fall for it.

Warrior Nurse! Great to hear from you!!!

Thanks much for checking in and sharing your astute and well researched observations. This should be mandatory reading for liberally indoctrinated public school students and adults. Your wealth of information is loaded for bear against the daily grind we hear in the media and from our feckless leadership.

When will you be stateside again? LTNS!

Phenomenal essay, warrior nurse. You should clean it up a bit and submit it for publication as a guest editorial to the Washington Times. . . Or perhaps Fox News.

Very well said, however, I am a little surprised that you have not figured out the answer to your questions, if indeed that is the case.

The answer is quite simple. The Democrat Party is comprised of communists. The press is comprised of communists. Thus the press supports the Democrats. Since the press control mass communication venues, except of course the internet, they have the ability to control the message, and that message does not need to contain truths. Were it not for this medium your voice would never see the light of day. Which is one reason the Democrats and the press are trying hard to gain more control of the internet, your truths have a chance of taking root. That would be a big problem.

While it is refreshing and welcomed here to know that there are blacks that understand these issues. It would be more useful, to blacks as well as all Americans, for you to take your message to known black and liberal forums as they are the ones that know not the real history of Republicans. Nor do they know the reality of the Democrats. No one has ever told them the truth, because the vast majority of teachers have been brainwashed with communist philosophy and they too hide the truth from their charges.

In closing I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the protection you provide me and my family on a daily basis. God Bless you and your family, from grandparents down to children. You sound like my kind of people and if you are ever in Louisiana I would be honored to take you and your family out for a nice juicy steak dinner.

Right on the money..thanks..

always loved this story he mention to,
May 22, 1856, Brooks chose to confront Charles Sumner; however he waited as the Senate emptied out- as Congress had adjourned early that day (12:45p.m.). His reason for waiting was that there were ladies present who had not yet cleared the chamber.

Finally Brooks entered the Senate chamber and addressed Sumner who sat writing at his desk: “Mr. Sumner, I have read your speech twice over carefully, it is a libel on South Carolina, and Mr. Butler, who is a relative of mine.”
Brooks then began to beat Sumner with his gutta-percha cane until Sumner was unconscious. Senator John Crittenden of Kentucky said to Brooks: “Don’t kill him.”

This caused the biggest Hash cooking party every in Ninety Six, S.C. A wagon load or 2 of canes were also collected..

Thank you for a beautiful essay. I came away with the feeling that the democrat party considers black “the white mans’ burden.”
When will a conservative come along who will rightly point out that in every decision made between blacks as a group and some other group, blacks always lose.
Blacks overwhelmingly support school choice, but the teachers unions do not. Blacks overwhelmingly disapprove of gay marriage, but the homosexual lobby does not. The list goes on and on.
