Possibly Issa’s timing was excellent. He closed the televised hearing in a sudden move, taking away Cummins’s bloviating opportunity at the actual hearing and therefore on the record.

Now the vote on contempt charges can be taken off camera. Everyone is very aware of the power of the TV cameras these days. Too bad they didn’t have the mics under control.

I've thought so from the beginning of this episode. It's as plain as the egg that will be all over Issa's face if this latest House Committee effort continues to crash and burn.

Can she (legally) plead the 5th if she’s asked about the opening statement she made at the first hearing? “Ms. Lerner, in May of 2013 did you say before this committee that . . .?” “Is that statement consistent with reports that . . . ?” etc.
