Bachmann Says US Jews are Selling Out Israel
Arutz Sheva ^ | 3/5/14 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 03/05/2014 11:37:04 AM PST by Oliviaforever

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann Bachmann has accused American Jews of having “sold out Israel” by voting for President Obama in 2008 and 2012.

“The Jewish community gave him their votes, their support, their financial support,” Bachmann told Tony Perkins on the Family Research Center's radio channel, “and as recently as last week, 48 Jewish donors who are big contributors to the president wrote a letter...to the Democrat [sic] senators in the U.S. Senate to tell them to not advance sanctions against Iran.”

OK ... I just re-read the article.

Twice.

She’s right on all counts.

This isn’t even a “hard truth”. It’s a simple truth, stated plainly. Anyone who finds it “hard” needs to look in the mirror to locate the problem.

and so are the Haredi who live off the society and the taxpayers of Israel who provide so much. Would they come out of their shuls if Arab forces entered Jerusalem? They are as much to blame as liberal/socialist American Jews.

I think the language barrier is keeping me from explaining.

Suppose your wife asks “does this dress make my ass look fat?”

How do you answer?

Well, the same finesse is required here.

You read too much Haaretz.

I am Haredi and spent most of my adult life flying F-16s.

The pre-Zionist Haredi have really come around and while such freeloaders are an issue, they are mainly just a whipping boy used by a very liberal, securlar, press in Israel to make religious Jewish people look bad.

“Michele Bachmann is a 100% Tea Party conservative who is not afraid to speak her mind.”

Very true, and I’ve always respected that about her.

Even so, it is amazing how open minded one becomes when one is no longer running for office. This being her last term.

“does this dress make my ass look fat?”

I made it very clear to her, very early in our relationship, that I do not play that sort of mind game.

So tell me: what do you think is the problem, here? Who is unable to accept plain truth spoken in plain English.

The problem is not with the truth, ever. The problem is not with Rep. Bachman's plain statement of the truth.

The problem lies elsewhere. Those who are too emotionally unstable to handle the plain spoken truth need to get their act together. Since I'm not clear on whose precious sensibilities are supposedly offended, I can't be more specific than that.

Plenty of people of all stripes have blind spots. Jews are no different.

I remember reading some high praise for Hitler from Jewish academics of the day. That bunch thought he was brilliant and those who worried about antisemitism just didn’t understand his nuances. However its important to note that just as many Protestants, Catholics, Atheists and others were saying the same.

A certain segment of the population is naturally stupid and self destructive without regard for race or religion.

The truth is the truth. If we cannot speak it freely then we’re screwed anyway.

The problem does lie elsewhere. The American Jews are sensitive to this topic.

The “that dress DOES make your ass look fat” approach does not work on people weaker than your wife.

You have to persuade and let them come to that realization on their own.

As an Israeli, I get asked about American politics from American Jews almost daily and certainly weekly.

I tend to shrug in a knowing fashion that conveys a lot.

Or say “his policies are not good for the Jews.”

Or say “he is perceived as weak by the Arabs, which emboldens them.”

Or I ask rhetorical questions they know the answer to.

Even secular American Jewish people and there is a cultural approach that is different from the Anglo-Saxon approach.

It’s like saying something too strongly in Japan. If you do, they assume you are crazy and don’t listen to you.

American Jews are Liberals first, Democrats second, and Jews third. Most secular American Jews don’t care if Israel is wiped off the face of the Earth.

>> The problem does lie elsewhere. The American Jews are sensitive to this topic.

The "American Jews" need to get their act together. And while I appreciate the compliment to my wife, I must say that you have combined it with an insult to a variety of racial/ethnic minority groups. That insult is, in many respects, deserved.

>> You have to persuade and let them come to that realization on their own.

After more than a generation or two of self-destructive voting behavior, it's quite clear that they're NOT going to come to any worthwhile realization on their own. So "No", I don't have to pussyfoot around their sensibilities. Maybe if more people spoke like Rep. Bachman ... plainly ... then the perpetually offended would come to the realization that the world doesn't revolve around their sensibilities.

>> As an Israeli, I get asked about American politics from American Jews almost daily and certainly weekly.

That's just plain weird. Really. Bizarre beyond belief. The foreigner should be asking the natives about local politics ... not the other way around.

>> It’s like saying something too strongly in Japan.

When in Rome ... (or Japan, or Israel, or wherever) ... This is America.

Oh, yes: We beat the Iroquois fair and square ... so it's not "Iroquois Territory". It's America. Just so's you know.

This Israeli considers her correct. But I do agree it is not constructive to state this (even though it is obviously true). Her statements will be twisted around and make her look stupid.

You are correct, Reform Jews ( of which I am close too ) will brand her as a tea-party nut etc etc.

IMHO she would have been better off to have been invited to a Reform Temple for services and have an open forum with the members in an Oneg afterwards, and explain her position and not condemn ( which is in a way what she did ) but make a case like Lady Thatcher did as to how Israel is being treated by Obama as to build the bridge of support with the Reform Community rather than burn one.

I am not impressed, I have personally spent a great deal of time and making my case without rancor to win support with the Reform Community as to allow them to have an "ah-ha moment" on their own, and she just blew it. Thanks a lot MB....

Iran is conceivably months away from blowing Israel off the face of the earth.

You’re talking finesse. And making jokes about fat asses.

“Oh, yes: We beat the Iroquois fair and square ... so it’s not “Iroquois Territory”. It’s America. Just so’s you know.”

Yes, I know. That’s actually the point.

It’s a quote of Israeli Government Press Director Daniel Seamen mocking Hillary Clinton:

+++++++++++++

http://israelmatzav.blogspot.com/2009/06/iroquois-territory-occupiers-tell-jews.html

+++++++++++++

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s press spokesman was asked whether the demand to halt all building (including schools, kindergartens and housing for young couples) in Judea and Samaria included all building in Jerusalem.
Ms. Clinton’s press spokesman was asked if President Obama’s demand to halt expansion of “West Bank Jewish communities” included a demand to stop expansion of Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

The answer was affirmative. The U.S. State Department demands that Israel limit Jewish growth in these areas of Jerusalem, “whose status remains to be determined” in negotiations.

Israeli Government Press Director Daniel Seamen reacted to this Obama administration statement by saying: “I have to admire the residents of Iroquois territory for assuming that they have a right to determine where Jews should live in Jerusalem.”

No, no, no.

You have to call people stupid idiots to persuade them. Preferably at the top of you lungs.

Haven’t you learned anything in this thread?

Thanks ... that makes a bit of sense out of the comment. "Hillary!" is an ass ... with apologies to actual donkeys, which are kind, gentle, and useful beasts. Barry Benghazi's entire regime does everything it can to damage America and our allies.
