An Alabama statehouse abortion debate Tuesday moved from the realm of reproductive rights to race when one Democratic representative said the state’s Republican lawmakers would make “their daughter have an abortion” if she were impregnated by a black man.
The shocking comments from Rep. Alvin Holmes (D-Montgomery) came shortly after Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin (R-Indian Springs) compared her bill to restrict abortions to the landmark Supreme Court case Brown vs. Board of Education, which ended in 1954 the legal segregation of public schools, The Birmingham News reported.

Black players in the NFL are contemplating suing and charging NFL with RACISM as the new proposal to quit using the (sounds like Trigger) word is RACIST because THEY are the only ones that use it on the field and it is a term or endearment so as long as the word CAN’T be used, it obviously is a slap at the Black players.

So when a person such as myself just decided to SPEAK to no one unless spoken to first and just using answers relating to the subject with no small talk or banter, I was ‘named’ in a ‘creating a hostile workplace’ complaint as where I was once was warm and friendly, I had turned cold and aggressive.

I called Representative Holmes at his home a few years back. He is the guy who advertised he would give 5000 dollars to anyone who could show him homosexuality was a sin in the Bible. We actually had a nice conversation. I talked to him about sexual sin, and he asked me if I had ever fornicated and I told him yes. He told me that I was just as guilty as homosexuals and I told him yes, I was. He told me that I was going to hell, then, and I told him no, I was not. I then told him he was confused about the standard for righteousness to get to heaven and that you had to be PERFECT to go there. We talked a little about the imputed righteousness of Jesus. He asked me about why I was calling him from North Carolina, and I told him I always pick up 100 dollar bills when I see them on the street and asked him if he had a pen to take down my address so he could mail me a check.
As I said, it was a pleasant conversation, respectful if full of repartee on both sides. I told him he needed to learn the bible before making such statements and he admitted not reading it much.
He is somewhat of a grandstander and flamboyant. I told him I had grown up in Alabama and understood what it must have been like to grow up in a Jim Crow era state. I apologized for calling him at home when he was sick, and he said it was ok, that state law demands your home telephone be listed publicly. Normally he has someone there to answer the phone, but this was unusual
Before I hung up I said, Hey Rep Holmes, Read your bible, man. You don’t want to go to hell. He laughed and thanked me for the call.
Every time I see him make some outlandish statement like this, I think of that call and pray for him.
