A gifted liar is one who makes it difficult to discern when he’s lying. McConnell is not a gifted liar.

If we got him a majority in the Senate he would:

Not pursue overturning Obamacare
Not pursue impeachment
Not cut spending
Not...do anything worthy of being called Conservative

The worst thing would be for Grimes to win, and cost us the majority. Got to have 51. A tie is no good.

Need more than 51. If it’s 51 somebody in the GOP will cross the aisle.

[ And nice try with the muzzle loader. ]

Muzzle loader reminds me of the dumb liberal argument that we should keep muzzle loaders legal as the people who wrote the 2nd amendment only had those and couldn’t foresee cartidge guns. So they say we should ban ALL guns EXCEPT muzzle loaders....

If McConnell suddenly sees the light and holds his ground against anything that promotes big government or unconstitutional activities, then he will earn my respect.

I expect this kind of leadership ALL the time, not just when his political career is threatened.

He needs to go, no matter what change of heart he has, to set an example for the rest of Congress.

Then 52, if there are sufficient seats in play. We MUST have a majority this time though. Even with quislings, like Jeffords, if you at least have the majority you can decide what comes to the floor and Reid doesn’t.

Never forget what a scumbag Harry Reid is.

Heheh. They’d like to believe that.

Too bad. Reality is a kick in the arse. And the reality kicking them is over 100 million+ gun owners in this country, the majority of whom are not giving in nor backing down.

Grimes winning is bad on multiple levels. It would also be the BIG story coming out of the election, sucking up the media oxygen and undercutting any GOP gains (or even a Senate takeover).

And it would also undercut the Conservative agenda by allowing Dems to stand their ground on the notion that the election was “complex” and had no meaning. I’ve seen Libs trot the danger McConnells in along these lines already, completely unwilling to acknowlege that he’s in trouble because his Conservative base is disgusted with him and is walking away.

“51 what? Consider your answer carefully. “

51 Republicans, who are not going to be perfectly conservative, because Texas isn’t Kentucky, which isn’t Massachussetts, which isn’t Minnesota.

But 51 Rs will keep Reid the scumbag from helping Obama. Reid stops all R amendments to bills. Reid protects Obama from the House Conservatives.

The country was doing very well with a solid R congress stopping Slick Willie, until he was impeached, and the media made him a martyr. And Trent Lott was kind of squirrelly too. Reid must be rendered impotent.

51 Republicans...

OK, so you've got McCain. There's one loss. Graham, another, McConnell, Collins...

With these useless Republicans alone, you're down to 47, and I can keep going if you like.

They’re not useless - the only way they could be useless is if they caucus with the democrats. By the way all voted against Obamacare when the question was should it pass or fail. Once you get 51, no matter how they individually vote, day to day, bill to bill, Reid can’t shut down conservative amendments on money bills or stop conservative bills from originating in the senate. 51 is Key!

You are right about that.

A Grimes win in the general against McConnell would allow Democrats to say that the mid-term election was not a referendum on Obama, but that it was a rejection of the Tea Party.

A Grimes win against Bevin would be a different story. That story would be about fueling the GOP feud between establishment and the righ-wing conservatives, and about the Tea Party not being "electable" in an election.

Very astute, PJT

A Grimes win against McConnell would be analogous to a Coons win against Mike Castle. (By the way I don’t think that would have happened had Castle beat O’Donnell, and I don’t think Grimes can beat McConnell, if he isn’t torn apart by both sides.

A Grimes win against Bevin would be analogous to a Coons win against O’Donnell, except with a change of a red seat to a blue seat, weakening the right and strengthening the left. In DE, blue (Biden’s) stayed blue. So a Grimes win against Bevin would be worse than what happened in DE 2010.

He would have to promise in writing in his own blood that he would keep Reid’s Nuclear Option and expand it to the Supreme Court.

But he has hinted at doing just the opposite.

Yes he did.

I'll never forgive the senators that let harry get the nuclear option first.
They had the chance and threw it all away.

If they already own you, or you don't know how to fight, or you're just too much of a punk, get gone now.

Probably. then again, hr could merely be playing his part in the Kabuki. If he goes scorched earth like I think he and the other RINOs will when it gets close to election time, the dems have a chance to pull it out. And considering all the support that the RINOs give them, that may well be exactly what the Uniparty wants to happen.

Is that good enough?

Well, no. What he needs to do...

Ain’t no way he’s going to shut down the government or let Treasury hit the debt ceiling, and the closer we get to 2016 the surer that is.

...is precisely what there "ain't no way" he's going to do. We're at an impasse here. Move over, Mitch.
